When Sternthology (the replacement for The Shuffle and other shows that featured old stuff) first started it seemed like they were making an effort to play different clips every day and stuff that hadn't been heard for a while. Lately it's completely gone to hell. They play the same clips week after week and reuse stuff we've already heard dozens of times from the "specials". For the last couple of months it's been made up almost entirely of clips from the recent re-edited History of Howard special, now they're hyping a new special later this month about Baba Booey and guess what - Sternthology is now concentrating heavily on old Gary clips that I'm sure will also be part of the special. They've always been guilty of repackaging the same clips and pretending it was something new but this is a new level of laziness and incompetence.

Mammary Lane has been a nice change of pace since Sternthology has become so redundant. Granted the pickings are still slim but I'm hearing a slighter wider array of clips

You notice they never play Eric the Midget stuff anymore? I can get my fill over on You Tube so it's not a big deal but it's like since he passed away they decided they shouldn't replay his appearances anymore or something? That's a lot of tape and entertaining stuff too. Seems like an odd decision. You think his parents have anything to do with it?

Mammary Lane has always been my favorite but now they're even managing to ruin that. Several of the clips they've played this week were on Sterthology within the last month, probably another case of those lazy scumbags using whatever "special" they're working on as filler for Sternthology.

Just 24/7 with a picture of his notebook. Robin, I could have 5 channels on Sirius and not have enough material.

I notice they play a lot of clips without arti or if arti is there he is not saying much. Too bad because the sirius years with arti were very very funny .

I haven't checked out today's ML offering. But Monday and Tuesday's shows were very SXM heavy, especially Monday which was mostly post-Artie SXM. Hearing repeats of the Tapes in quick succession has been a problem ever since they entered the new contract. When they came back in 2011, Bubba was gone, Howard was down to three days a week, and eventually Ferrall and most of the 101 shows would be gone too. So they filled all that air time with the Tapes. They probably couldn't keep up with the demand. So a lot of stuff got repeated. I'd hear a bit on MTT and then hear it again a few weeks or months later on TDiHH. Or I'd hear something on TDiHH and then hear it during a vacation week.

The larger problem for me is an all too heavy reliance on the Tapes. I'm glad Howard has the Tapes and it's obviously an inexpensive programming solution. But they get watered down when they're played too often. I would prefer that the Tapes only be used for vacation weeks (of which there is certainly now no shortage) and maybe one other show each week, like TDiHH or MTT (but not both).

the reason why they re package old stuff is because most of the people produced the show left Howard stern production and got better paying jobs.

They can only play tapes that have been scrubbed free of Alison mentions. So, they'll always err on the side of caution by airing an oft-repeated one before putting on a non-vetted one. Did you hear that couple last week that got to be in the studio by virtue of donation? When the husband mentioned Alison by name at Atlantis, The Wig was not happy.
