Today's interview at almost 2 hrs was more like a biography of Steve's life rather that a compelling interview. His life just seems very typical for a rising comedian/movie star. No personal demons or scandals to make the interview really interesting.

2 hours? Holy shit. What'd they just go straight to the "news" after? That's way too long.

Exactly and Martin couldn't remember anyone's name. Plus his years were all way off. At one point he said that he started appearing on SNL in 1966.

...i didnt listen to howard sterns shitshow but steve can be really hard to interview. if he doesnt want to tell you something he'll just play stupid or whatever he needs to. i read some of the morning thread and someone there said at one point they thought steve might walk out.
hes got a ton of cash and artwork too. i bet hes got some decent real estate instead of bloated beach mcmansions. i dont think hes going to hangout with wiggy and beth in the hamptons. was beth in the studio today?

When the show was entertaining, no interview would last more than 20 minutes, celebrity or otherwise.

I'm not too familiar with Steve Martin, what did he do that was funny?

As always, Gunkard interrupted constantly and prevented possibly interesting remarks from Martin. Martin was willing to talk freely; it's not like Howard had to try to dig things out of him or _constantly_ change the subject.

    World's greatest interviewer, my ass!

I don't know why they said that. I think they were more or less saying they would've walked out if they were Steve. Nothing really dramatic/no conflict occurred.
