Entertainment Straight Outta Compton. Good movie or no?

    I just watched it this week. I am an old codger who never really listened to Gangsta during it's heyday, but appreciates it's influence on today's music. I liked the story and appreciated it for what it was. The "FTP" song seemed to be the key element of the story. I get the aignst of the crew as told in the movie. The violence of Shugg Knight against Easy was maybe downplayed a lot, as was how easily Dre walked away from Death Row? I don't know? I am curious how folks who really dug that scene received the movie.

    It was awesome. But ya, I'd say they made them all a little "softer" than they were in real life. Very good movie non the less

    Good, fun flick. I grew up with the E and NWA and knew their story well. As a fun movie, it delivers. Is it Oscar material or a cinema statement? No.

    Some movies are well made and keep interest the whole time. This was one of those movies.

    I respect the makers for making a movie that would divide audiences. I would have never given a second thought to it now had it not been made. I just posted to get a perspective.

    Loved the movie. You have to keep in mind that the story is being told from Dre and Ice Cubes point of views.

    So it's not a real perspective then? This is what I'm trying to get to. I saw the Rodney King trial, and its results. and Ice Cube's trasformation into "Barbershop" and "Family Vacation".

    It's just not a good movie. They accuse the manager of some kind of wrongdoing but they don't even explain what. How the guy is suing them for libel/slander.

    The Biggie movie was a better film.

    Which one is this. I am trying to understand without getting into the Tupac/Biggie thing without getting into that mess. Or is it even possible. Can one even try to understand a movie about hip hop without going there?
