I just watched it this week. I am an old codger who never really listened to Gangsta during it's heyday, but appreciates it's influence on today's music. I liked the story and appreciated it for what it was. The "FTP" song seemed to be the key element of the story. I get the aignst of the crew as told in the movie. The violence of Shugg Knight against Easy was maybe downplayed a lot, as was how easily Dre walked away from Death Row? I don't know? I am curious how folks who really dug that scene received the movie.

No. Overhyped, unfocused. Only given praise because it's racist not to.

It was awesome. But ya, I'd say they made them all a little "softer" than they were in real life. Very good movie non the less

Good, fun flick. I grew up with the E and NWA and knew their story well. As a fun movie, it delivers. Is it Oscar material or a cinema statement? No.

    Good movie. Not great.

    Definitely not Oscar worthy.

Some movies are well made and keep interest the whole time. This was one of those movies.

I respect the makers for making a movie that would divide audiences. I would have never given a second thought to it now had it not been made. I just posted to get a perspective.

Loved the movie. You have to keep in mind that the story is being told from Dre and Ice Cubes point of views.

So it's not a real perspective then? This is what I'm trying to get to. I saw the Rodney King trial, and its results. and Ice Cube's trasformation into "Barbershop" and "Family Vacation".

It's just not a good movie. They accuse the manager of some kind of wrongdoing but they don't even explain what. How the guy is suing them for libel/slander.

The Biggie movie was a better film.

Which one is this. I am trying to understand without getting into the Tupac/Biggie thing without getting into that mess. Or is it even possible. Can one even try to understand a movie about hip hop without going there?
