Went hiking and for a tour yesterday at Malabar Farm State Park. We were able to see numerous sites where the movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed, which was interesting. The place is beautiful although I was not too impressed with the trails. It also seemed like every idiot passing through had stopped to go hiking, even if they were ill-prepared. I saw way too many people in flip flops - not to mention dragging toddlers and babies along the trail. Toddlers that are barely walking do not belong on a trail strewn with tree roots, rocks, and hidden underground caves. One woman had her infant in a carrier and her other kids were stuck in one of the caves. She couldn't get down there to get them out. Some nitwits pushed their regular stroller on the trail and wondered why it was difficult to push through the foliage. Even people that brought their dogs (and in one case, a small puppy) did so without thinking...no water, nothing. I was shaking my head at all of them. During the tour I was seated next to someone that kind of repulsed me, yet intrigued me. I surreptitiously captured a few pictures because at first I thought my eyes were playing horrible tricks on me.
