I was born in 1971, and stuff like Vietnam and Woodstock always felt like ancient history. When I first heard the Sex Pistols, Never Mind the Bollocks wasn't even ten years old, but it felt like it was from decades before. Now I have students who are Nirvana fans who were born after Kurt Cobain killed himself. Star Trek fans who were born after TNG ended. Baseball fans who think of McGuire and Sosa like I think of Maris and Mantle. I'M OLD AS SHIT!
my older sisters always wonder if kids nowadays have seen the breakfast club or if it seems like an old-time movie to them.
My kid wants a new bass and keeps talking about how old his Aria Pro II is and I said "It was made in like 1998, it's not THAT old". He died laughing.
Right, and The Sex Pistols were around in the late 70s. I'm talking about how those things felt ancient to me.
