There are a couple threads on this very topic already. :grad:

It was brutal, but worth it since the next episode featuring Artie's rebuttal was so great.

Artie was treating SJ like he was Mike Boccetti, twisting every little thing SJ said around in that "fake pretentious" manner he's adopted. Calling back to Larry the Cable Guy jokes 20 minutes later was lame. I applaud SJ for giving it right back to the fat ass, fuck him. Artie likes for people to think he's gods gift to comedy, the second coming of Carlin, when in fact his lazy ass hasn't written new material in years. All he does is continue to fail up in his career, I'd finish this rant but I have to go walk to St. Louis...

How do you really feel about Artie? Haven't heard that podcast, but agree that Artie was never that funny. Just a loud, beer drinking NY union docks worker that got lucky. No harm in that at all. Sadly, when he started earning money he tried transforming his clothes, having a stable relationship with Dana, more costly liquor. Instead he started using drugs, bought that eye sore of a house...tragic. Should have kept working on the docks.

I agree with everything except the failing up part. He hasn't been on an upward trajectory for the better part of a decade.

9/10 people in his situation would be COMPLETELY out of show business by now for the shit he's pulled. Instead, Artie's got a "for pay" podcast and a part on a new HBO comedy produced by Judd Apatow, plus he can still con marks to see him do stand up for $100 a pop. It may not be "2006 Artie on Sirius" level but he's doing than just about everyone who posts on here.

Anybody who hits a certain point in comedy is kinda "set". Jay Mohr makes more than Artie. When's the last time he did anything funny?

I'm not a big fan of the post THSS Artie, I'll have to admit but he was great on the show for a long time. I do hate his "fake pretentious" character that he's adopted. Artie would do it all the time on "The Artie Lange Show", he'd spend half of every show breaking Mike Bocetti's balls over tedious, unfunny shit and it was purely to fill time. Now he's doing it with Stuttering John, it may work on a room temperature IQ retard like Boccetti but Stuttering John is a first ballot HOF ball breaker and shit stirrer himself. Artie messed with the wrong person that day and I thought it was great. Artie's got "forbidden topics" but no one else does? Fuck him and his dead daddy.

A violent, drug addict felon who's been to rehab half a dozen times and attempted suicide twice. What kind of producer would invest a nickel in a guy with that track record? I laugh when people on here joke about "The Stern Effect". Gunky may tank the ratings on AGT and his late night talk show appearances the past few years but look at what he did for Artie. Artie should have Bob Levy's career by now.

If someone posts the link, I will try listening. Hurray for SJ. It is kind of ironic. Both of them kiss Howard's ring in hopes of returning for a HSS visit. A useless gesture. They should have known better--ask the Howard TV crew and countless others.

It worked both ways. Look what Artie did for HSS. Artie was an out of control loud mouth junkie. Howard knew it and used it for the show.

Give it a listen, maybe you'll feel differently than me. I think at first SJ wanted to shoot the shit like he and Artie used to do in the car while riding to gigs 15 years ago but Artie thought it would be more entertaining to his listeners to try and ridicule and demean SJ and he got what he deserved IMHO.

Perfectly said. Artie does that with a lot of people on the show. He'll refuse to sell any of your jokes and he'll try to make them fall flat.

Artie's not getting booked at comedy shows, selling tickets for $100 a pop because of something he did for Howard.
