The thread title was: Questions you would ask Howard if he took a lie detector?? (From Zerogrowth...) Definitely worth a read. "Are you aware your show currently sucks 59 dicks? How would you rate your influence in radio compared to let's say 10 years ago. Do you think that 'The Stern Effect' is at this point a product of your imagination? Do you think a discriminating audience wants to hear a limo driver as on-air talent? Do you not think phony phone calls are the cheapest form of humor? Does John Hein belong on a comedy show? Are you aware that your wife and her animal welfare issues repulse the audience? Do you think that hawking a kitten or doggie calendar is nauseating to the hardcore fan? What is your attitude towards repackaging 'The Best of Stern', 10,000 times under different names. Do you think the audience appreciates this? Are you aware that even in the most loyal fan forums, the posts are 80% negative about your show? Do you feel that you delayed the 'recovery' of Artie Lange by turning his nodding out into a bit? Do you feel you blew it by not recognizing Artie's obvious drug/alcohol problems when he worked on the show? It was not exactly subtle. Did you ever pull Artie aside when he worked there and offered help or do you claim total ignorance? Why do you not mention Artie's TV show and current activities at least in passing? Do you know that if a poll was conducted as to who to get rid of immediately, Benjy Bronk would be out of a job? Do you actually think The Blob has talent which would be recognized by any serious comedy writer? Do you really think the Stern demographic appreciates your participation on that piece of shit AGT? Are you trying to position yourself for a later career in 'mainstream' entertainment? Are you now aware your fame is related to your former status as the ultimate outsider? Do you know that many long-term fans have no problem skipping a live show due to its current pathetic quality? Will you book any fucking loser if you are asked by Judith Reagan, no matter how boring or dishonest? Are you aware that guests are appearing on O & A as they feel it may provide more exposure? Do you think that Judd Apatow had very relevant points in being critical of your current incarnation? If you were back on terrestrial radio, do you think you would get the ratings you used to? Why are the calls so heavily screened that no serious critical call ever gets on the air? 1) Why, after every interview, does someone ring to say, 'that was the greatest interview I have ever heard? 2) Do you feel the need to hear only phone calls which gratify your ego? Who instructs the call screeners and what are those instructions? If 100 is the best and zero the worst, how would you rate the quality of programming on 101? On the same scale, how would you rate Howard 100 news? What percentage of fans do you think are happy with your three day work week? Your writing staff seems to be recruited from phone-in contest winners? Would you not be better off with professionals? Do you ever receive critical imput about the show and who are the people who provide these opinions? Do you think that a staff mostly reliant on your reputation and finance would provide you with objective opinions?"
