Sports Super Bowl 50: US to deploy war planes over Carolina Panthers v Denver Broncos game

    United States Air Force planes will be patrolling the skies over the Super Bowl this weekend.

    F-15 Eagles from the Air National Guard will be ready to escort any unidentified aircraft from the area.

    The Air National Guard has been working with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), whose Cessna 182 aircraft have been training with the F-15 Eagles over California.

    This the first superbowl they have done that?

    I'd imagine they have been doing this since the Gulf War.


    I was just thinking yesterday, if somehow that game were to be hit, this world would be in the midst of WWIII on Monday.

    They should feel free to bomb the 101 with while they are doing so. Too much traffic on good days; on football days, it's even worse; Super Bowl? A whole new magnitude of bad.

    Been saying for years...the super bowl is the ideal place for terrorism. A massive attack would be seen by hundreds of millions. I always worry about it. Hopefully this is just a precaution and they have heard no "chatter"

    Hopefully, they'll be armed, unlike the F-16s over NYC on 9/11, although I don't know how much use they'd be against small, low-flying drones launched from anywhere on the ground just outside the secure perimeter. He has me blocked, but I'm guessing that fuckin' idiot NewCastleFan will be along shortly to embarrass himself (again) with his scary imaginary knowledge of all things related to military aviation.

    This is serious. This is the third wave attack that we were warned about after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The Japs have long planned to send their Zero's to bomb the West Coast of the United States.

    I used to watch the fighters refuel at night over NYC. You could tell when a tanker entered the flight pattern because their strobes were so much brighter than the fighters.

    We do get some cool stuff for our tax dollars.
