I hope Marvin Gayes daughter gets a lawyer and sues. I would think that the part that sounds like Gayes got to give it up is enough to add him into the writers money. I know their are contributions from the current writers, but that loot should go 4 ways . It was discussed briefly on the show that Gayes song influenced Blurred Lines, hell, it was more than influence. They use the beat for fucks sake. Lady Gaga paid for the one line she rewrote from Boney M(Ma Baker) for her song Poker face, and this was allot more than 1 line.

I'm pretty sure R T had to pay to use the beat.

When I first heard blurred lines I just assumed they sample Marvin Gayes whole song. Influenced? Come on.

Its funny when Stern brought it up, Thicke mentioned the influence, its more than an influence. From Wikepedia:

The other song they played sucked ass. He said his previous work was serious and personal. One hit wonder lucky MF'er. Even the best parts of his hit song are backing singers.

I'm in agreement with this statement. Robin Thicke should be sued by everyone that has a shot at winning the lawsuit. Poor coked up Marvin gets shot and killed by his preacher dad that was abusive to his mom and now the son of the dad from Growing Pains is stealing one of his greatest songs....can't the man rest in peace?

blurred lines is a lousy piece of shit. the only reason it's a hit is because they made the video to be intentionally controversial....i missed most of the interview (poor me)...was howard waxing poetic about how much he loves it?

now we know that in addition to having childish taste in TV and movies, he's devolved into a pop music-loving teenybopper.

btw, did howard ask him if he was beer-can thicke????

I've heard of Marvin Gaye but wouldn't recognise one of his songs if it walked up to me in the street and slapped my face (unless he did that song abut grapevines)

    Well, the plot THICKENS

Thicke, collaborators sue to protect 'Blurred Lines' from Gaye family
    Aug. 16, 2013, 6:46 AM EST
    WENN
Collaborators Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I. have launched legal action against Marvin Gaye's family after the Motown star's relatives accused the trio of copying his work on their summer smash hit "Blurred Lines."
The Gaye family and bosses at Bridgeport Music, who own the rights to George Clinton's band Funkadelic's compositions, claim that "Blurred Lines" bears striking similarities to Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" and Funkadelic's track "Sexy Ways."
