maybe it has been discussed before here. i know that it is a religion he inherited from raye an he has passed onto ....beth? i think his kids worship yahweh. i beleive one has to pay to get his "secret word" mantra from the maharishi and pay to receive counseling, not unlike scientology. i know that it is a somewhat vanity religion in that they seem to attract and seek out rich people and celebrity, much respect to donovan and david lynch. it seems to be one, if not the major influence on stern, he practices twice a day i beleive. i am just curious what tou all think about it. i have been meditating for years, the white plum zazen method and also been a stern listener since day one los angeles, thanks.

Yet ANOTHER example of his egregious hypocrisy. I actually used to love when he ragged on organized religion and what a scam it is. Then I realized how into this shit he is and what it's all about. Like you said, it's kind of a "You need to PAY to gain wisdom" kind of thing. Plus, isn't TM supposed to calm a person down and make them more humble and centered and at peace? If so, it aint working on Wiggy!

    Here, I'll save you $2,000.00:

One of the key aspects of Mantra Meditation is the mantra given by the teacher to the student. This mantra is a word or phrase which will be continuously repeated in order to create the meditative state where the student is able to transcend the limitations of the mind.

    Mantras In Meditation
    • In Mantra Meditation the mantra given to the student will vary according to a number of different factors. Included among these are the year in which the student was born and in some cases their gender. The year in which the teacher was trained will also affect the mantra provided. The teacher will have been given a list of mantas to use and this list varies depending on which year they received their instruction.

Selecting The Right Mantra For You
Below you will find a list of over 50 mantras that you can use in your Mantra Meditation practice. As you will see you have a range of mantras that you can choose from according to your age and gender. When selecting a mantra you should select one which is easy for you to use and remember. The mantra should resonate with you and create the sensations and state that you desire. Finally the mantra should feel effortless to repeat so that you can lose your sense of self in its repetition.

    How Mantras Work
While mantra meditation is a spriritual practice the science of how mantras work is actually well known to us. Firstly mantras provide a point of focus. By having a word or phrase that we can center our attention on we are able to free ourselves from the constant internal chatter that is going on in our mind.

Mantras also have different vibrational qualities. This is why a unique mantra is selected for each student. By intoning a specific sound we can create that same vibrational quality in our body. For example the vibrational quality produced by the words “love” and “hate” are very different. If you speak these two words to yourself you will be able to feel the difference in the internal sensation that they create. Using specific mantra’s we produce the positive energy that we desire.
