A woman who battered a man around the head with a baseball bat during their first date has been jailed. Haley Fox, 24, met Samuel Campbell, 26, online in 2013 and he moved from Alabama to Turner, Oregon, to be with her earlier this year. Fox set up a romantic dinner with candles for their first meeting, before telling Campbell to close his eyes and then repeatedly swung a metal baseball bat at the back of his head. Campbell suffered a fractured skull and required nine staples to his head after the attack, reported KPTV.com. He told detectives he believed he was going to die, according to court documents. Fox was arrested in April and pleaded guilty earlier this month to charges of third-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Fox was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison on Wednesday. She has no prior criminal history, according to court records.
