JACKSON, MI – A Grass Lake resident and former Leslie Public Schools teacher is expected to be arraigned in Jackson District Court on Monday, Jan. 25, after being arrested in connection with an inappropriate relationship with a male juvenile student. The 31-year-old woman was arrested by Jackson police on Friday, Jan. 22, according to Jackson Police Lt. Christopher Simpson. She was charged with first-degree and third-degree criminal sexual conduct, Simpson said. The charges relate to sexual conduct with a minor at least 13 years old and under 16 years old, Simpson said. The woman resigned from her teaching position at Leslie's Woodworth Elementary School on Thursday, Jan. 21, according to Superintendent Jeff Manthei. She had been employed by Leslie Public Schools since 2010, and had previously taught at Leslie Middle School, Manthei said. The student formerly attended Leslie schools, but is not a current student there, Manthei said.
