I watched the trailer, it looks good.

However, who knows how a full movie will be?

If it's a true representation of what happened, it should be about the Germans fucking up rather than the British doing anything heroic.

There were some incredible aerial dogfights during the evacuation, hopefully he will do something amazing with those.

War movies are redundant now but I give Nolan benefit of the doubt

BBC already did a while back.

Those fairly empty looking beaches in the trailer? They were piled high with vehicles, equipment, stores, and men. They can CGI all sorts of shit, but apparently they skimped on this one.

And for the record. While many French did fight to protect the beaches, moles, and port while they evacuated French and British troops, thousands who had deserted earlier came rushing to the beaches when they found out the last ships would be departing. The Battle of France was only about 2 weeks old at this point, and they had left their units within the first few days. France was a very politically divided nation, while Germany was not.

meh I can think of a dozen other WW2 stories that would make way cooler topics than Dunkirk

I thougt it was a weak trailer.

The story of Dunkirk could make a great movie.
