...an ipad would be a real good choice. the auto spell correction is a it of a pain but great screen resolution and battery life between charges.

I hope not. I mean, no. Hence the lilbuddy-specific "67" placed at the end.

Ipad is awesome for staying connected if you are passively reading, watching videos, etc. It sucks for typing unless you buy one of the keyboard cases. I almost never post here when on my Ipad as a result. Enjoy the trip.

The IPad is the single greatest invention over the last 10 yrs. You can do 90% of home computer needs and it is a great multimedia platform.

Another option is a small, basic laptop computer. Best Buy sells perfectly fine options for $250 - $350. Unless you are a heavy gamer or doing video editing these laptops fit 99% of people's needs.

I used both at home for all my needs. Why anyone would spend $1000+ on a Mac Laptop is beyond me.

Personally, I'd recommend some kind of laptop.

However, I am not an iPad guy. Between the wife and kids, we have three, I think, and I don't touch any of them. Either look at stuff on my phone, or just use my laptop.

Do you have a cell phone with internet service? If not you will need cellular service unless you only want to use free wifi at restaurants and hotels.

An iPad can come with LTE which is cellular service so, you don't need a wi-fi connection.

You will have to have a data plan for the iPad with your phone provider.

Other tablets are generally wi-fi only which means you will need to find Wi-Fi hotspots along the way to get internet service or, you can get a portable Wi-Fi hotspot through your phone provider.

I have a portable Wi-Fi hotspot through Verizon and I love it when I travel or camp.

Same here. No smart phone and use an ipad for most everything.
Only problem is wifi so limited range. Dont wanna pay a bunch for 4g.

Where have you been for the last 5 yrs? This is basic stuff. If you don't want a smartphone that has a Wi-Fi hotspot built-in you can get a cellular wi-fi hotspot at any cellphone store and pay a monthly fee. You can use that for an Ipad or Laptop to get internet access.
