We recently did a mass clean out of our attic and garage. I found a box with all our OLD flip and slide cell phones from the past 15 years or so. Not smart phones... seriously old time flip phones.

It's quite sad - looks like a casket or time capsule full of old timey cell phones.

Not sure why we kept them at the time, but I want to get rid of them responsibly... not just trash dumping.

Any suggestions for websites or places to recycle, donate, etc? They are all too old for Gazelle.com, etc... need other options.

    Much appreciated folks. :hat:

Well, I'll be darn. Guess I need to head to an actual Best Buy store this week.

    From their site:

Sold off my shitty JBL Flip speaker for some dough. But you might have to meet up face to face.

I seem to recall looking into donating an old phone, but I read somewhere that there is NO way you can wipe your personal info. off the phone .... who knows, but I ended up sending the phone back to the recycling division of the phone maker. Seemed the "safest" way. :dontknow:

This. I always feel like they are never totally scrubbed clean.

There was an article in our Sunday paper about selling phones and how to secure your data. These ones I found were really old (not smart phones) - so really only contacts and such would be on there. Fingers crossed I get it all off.

Yeah, but I figure, why take a chance? I was going to donate it to a battered woman's shelter but then I read that and I was like, uh maybe this isn't such a good idea ....
