    Howard related because, F Howard!

This thread's creation was inspired after several recent contacts (25 and 26 July) with Shed Member Senator Rick, sharing his great love, passion and history with the Blues - as is only right, this thread is dedicated to him...

    Enjoy!

    Intro to the Blues...

I love the blues. Nobody affected me in blues music till I saw the "Kings", Albert, B.B., Freddie and then a lot of white guys emulating them. I really wish I had heard Robert Johnson long, long ago.

I went to a blues club in Memphis years ago and I swear I had a contact high when I left.

I went to an indoor Bob Marley concert in 79 with 10K+ people.
THC is still leaching from my pores.
I could probably smoke my 501's from that night and still get stoned.

I had a friend that was a huge blues fan back in the 80's. I reluctantly went to Albert King and Buddy Guy shows in small venues. Incredible.
It's a friggin shame these guys aren't celebrated and appreciated like so much of the popular crap out there.

Eric Clapton's version of Goin' Down Slow - My favorite cover of this Blues standard, written by St. Louis Jimmy Oden in the early 1940s

Partial list of covers from Wikipedia -

According to one author, "Few blues songs have stood the test of time as enduringly as "Goin' Down Slow".[9] It has been recorded by many musical artists, including:

From the late, great Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues.

I find it impossible to not be moved every time I hear this song. The first version is from his 1991 Letterman appearance.
