    A bit Much considering how much, his audience has shrunk

    Thanks for contacting Berk Marketing!

    Attached is a channel profile for Howard. He has almost 4 million listeners per week. His is by far the most expensive satellite radio program at $3,000 per 60-second commercial (not with his voice) and more like $7-8,000 per spot with him voicing it. From Noon-7pm the show is repeated and a spot during that period is only $400 per :60 (about $800 if he voiced it). Spots that are allowed to run anytime on his channel cost only $50, but they could all run in the middle of the night. Weekend spots are $100-200 each.What is it that you would be advertising? We probably have other solutions that would be effective depending on who you need to reach and what your budget comfort level is.Please call or write to discuss further.

    Thanks,

    Must be nice. You already know that he gets the lions share of that cash...Robin's news is Howard's walking around money with all of those live ads.

    I've noticed more NY-centric spots running lately, for ski hills and local strip clubs and such. This makes no sense as this is a "national" show.

    They're really hungry for business. I bet spots are going for "a dollar a holler" as we say in the business.

    I think it's safe to say he still has 1.3 to 1.4 million listeners a day...That's what it averages out to...

    I smell it too. Although, the odor seems to be stemming from the person I have on my "ignore list". Could it be?

    Since they're talking about advertising rates for the entire week, it's safe to say that the "nearly 4 million per week" is for the entire week, not just the 2 or 3 days he's live. Breaking it down, further, the weekend spots of 100-200 indicates there are more listeners over the weekend than overnight. If we assume the cost of advertising is proportional to the number of listeners, the statement turns into a word problem, from which a fairly simple (single variable) equation could be derived.

    The unfortunate part is there was no mention of the rates for ads during the Thursday TDIHH / Friday Best of the Week plays and replays. We can be sure people listening to that are included in the nearly 4 million, but we aren't given the ad rates, which means the single variable equation goes out the window. If one uses the assumption that the Thurs / Fri listener numbers are similar to the Sat/Sun listener numbers, then a less accurate, but at least solvable, equation can be derived.

    Also missing from the advertising blurb is the distinction between unique and repeat listeners. Knowing the way Howchie does math, it's a safe bet to assume that the nearly 4 million is actually the number of times people listen, per week, rather than the number of unique visitors. Given the numbers, there are clearly less than 1 million listening to each live show, while it's live, possibly in the 10,000 - 100,000 range.

    Let's take a stab at it - we can round up to 4,000,000 initially, knowing we need to round down a little, at the end:

    4,000,000 = (nighttime listeners) + (live daytime listeners) + (noon to 7pm listeners) + (Thurs & Friday listeners) + (Sat & Sun listeners)

    if x = unit number of live daytime listeners, then ratios may be derived:

    (live daytime listeners) = (50/3000) (nighttime listeners)
    " = (400/3000) (noon to 7pm listeners)
    " = (150/3000) (Sat & Sun listeners) (average)
    " = (150/3000) (Thurs & Friday listeners) (average)

    Substituting into the original equation (again, this is rough), we get:

    4,000,000 = x + (3000/50)x + (3000/400)x +(3000/150)x + (3000/150)x
    = x + 60x + 7.5x + 40x
    = 108.5x
    x <the unit number of daytime listeners> = 36,866 listeners per live show. Since we rounded up from nearly 4 million to 4 million, at this point we can round this down, to 36,000 if we feel generous, or 35,000 to get a rounder number.

    So, given my initial guess, we are in the lower half of the range. Did someone say 1.3 to 1.4 million per day? Do the math.

    its too early for that lol... nice breakdown and this is from 2008 when things were still fresh and new lol.. wonder how much it has gone down, although i guess it could have went up some as well. either way, Howies numbers are very bloated.

    That's a commendable effort, although the picture of the pitiful line outside the Letterman appearance is worth a thousand words in expressing the decline. My participation here is a story of ongoing disillusionment with the cult of Howard. (And yet I'm still a listener.)

    I'm amazed he is so greedy he feels compelled to do them -- even if he someone actually paid $6,000 for a spot, that's nothing to Stern

    What does Howard get paid for selling Toto toilet seats?
    Does Sirius get a cut or does Howard pocket ALL that money?

    I could see Howie getting greedy and not giving Sirius their taste...:c

    John Varvatos?

    Would anyone be shocked if PEPSI is involved with Howie's AGT Super Bowl commercial??
