Didn't see this posted yet. August 2025 Release
One of the most notorious, unreleased films ever made, Jerry Lewis' Holocaust drama "The Day The Clown Cried" has long been the subject of rumor and speculation. Even Lewis himself, who has long been sitting on the only copy of the movie, has veered in recent interviews from being "embarrassed" to "proud" of the effort in which he plays a German circus clown arrested by the Gestapo after mocking Hitler, and who is eventually forced by the Nazis to perform and help lead Jewish children to concentration camp gas chambers. But he has long held he would never show the movie (which was plagued by production and financial woes) publicly, though he thinks if he had a chance to tweak it, maybe it could work.

Good reason to live 10 more years. Definitely a movie I've heard so much about I really want to see it.

Thank god, we need another holocaust movie. I'd almost forgotten about the holocaust and WW2 in general.

I hope he finds a way to work " My Mammy" into this.

    Thank you for posting this.
As a Jerry Lewis fan, I've heard about this movie before. It will be interesting to finally see it. It's supposed to be really bad.
Doubtful that he'll be alive in 10 years, so I guess that's why he's doing this.

It's so funny that no matter what character he plays, he always wears that ugly pinky ring.
The Nutty Professor will always be one of my favorite movies ever.

Wouldn't it be hysterical if Lewis dies, they release it and it wins an Oscar for best picture and best actor

    Nibs :)

The Nutty Professor (Jerry Lewis NOT Eddie Murphy) holds a special place for my family.

Before VCRs and DVRs, etc., my mother would regale us with stories of TNP: how funny it is, the life lessons inherent in the story, and the brilliant use of color. In the 70s, my brother and I would scour the TV Guide for a showing. I'm talking a few years. Then one day...

The Nutty Professor was playing (Channel 50 WKBD, Detroit). 4pm after school. Having kidney/bladder issues as a kid, my mother demanded I pee at least three times before the movie started. She let us jump on their bed in anticipation. I hoped I wouldn't be disappointed.

    I wasn't.

The school dance scene -- you know what I'm talking about -- pushed me over the edge.

I peed all over their bed, hysterical. No one cared. My father made it home from work just in time for the last 20 minutes.

Great memory. One last comment about that ridiculous movie...at my wedding, I had the DJ play the song by Les Brown Band Julius Kelp danced to...my brother and I reenacted the whole dance in front of a mostly confused crowd. Best fuckin' part of my wedding.

    Should explain much.

If you're a fan get his book Dean and Me. It's very honest. He has nothing but nice things to say about Dean the whole book. He doesn't come off at all like the public Jerry.

Robin, we can hold an auction like we did with Baba Booey's "I want you back" tape. We'll screen the movie in the studio for the highest bidders. Robin????

I'm glad they're holding out for 10 more years. It makes Jerry seem even more talented.

That is a great story/memory, Deee. A million years later, that dance is still funny. And that movie is still hilarious.

Interesting. Jerry does come off as uber obnoxious and arrogant, but with Jerry, I never minded because I felt that arrogance was well deserved because he's a comic genius. So, it's nice to know that he's not like that all the time.
I'll definitely look for that book.

Harry Shearer was on Stern years ago and Stern asked him about it. Shearer had seen the movie and spoke at length about it. I'm sure you can search Marksfrign for more about the interview date. Also - I saw some out takes on YouTube a while ago. There is some stuff out on the web about it.
