THANKS, CLEAR CHANNEL!
radio died 25 years ago.
...i used to listen to frank and mike in the morning on kgo when i worked in san francisco.
Marci Turk approves of the way KGO is getting things done -
Telecom act of 1996 is to blame. Vulture capitalism is to blame. Cash at any cost is to blame.
From the article a couple more people to blame:
"I will never forgive the Dickey brothers, the Mays brothers, Farid Suliman, and David Field for what they did to Radio. Like vampires they sucked the life force out of radio, and killed it. What they did should have been illegal. But, there were no regulations to stop it, and there still aren’t."
This is a real shame. I used to absolutely torture the late night hosts with phony phone calls Chris Clark, Ray Taliaferro, etc.
The station went to shit a few years ago, but this is disgusting.
When I got out of my car for work this morning, a Heart song was playing, when I got back in the car, 7 hours later, the same Heart song was playing....
It seems like there's an awful lot of vitriol being directed at the people who purchased these stations, but not much at the people who sold them the stations. Just saying.
Anyone remember Ray Taliaferro? Very amusing.
Savage actually got started in radio as a sub for Ray Taliaferro of all people. I use to prank Savage often.
Music is a tough sell on terrestrial radio when you have Pandora. Radio will survive on talk or sports.
Hey, I like him!
There is pain everywhere.
Yes and no. With the God awful format though, they certainly don't do music
OMG I loved KFOG. This coming from being on the East coast!
I want you to go to jail for this ...
I get the same thing with the 80's channel on Sirius with the metro by berlin
good thing this subscription is a xmas gift otherwise i'd feel ripped off
Savage is entertaining, but clearly insane. And no I'm not basing that off his politics. I do enjoy when he gets upset and goes bat shit crazy tho, and have set him off a few times.
Fried his brain hanging out with Allen Ginsberg.
