I don't know if this was ever posted on this site, but I found this blog post on the decline of Howard. It isn't much different than what we say on this board, but a good read none the less.

I mostly agree with this guy, but he's not an impressive writer.

"Much like his dog-loving dunce of a wife’s horrid mom cave horseshit, Stern’s hypocrisy knows no bounds."

    Ooofa.

It would be great if the guy who put together the "Artie Lange Addiction" saga, would do a series on "The Decline and Fall of Howard Stern"

I'm still not convinced this giant praying mantis is what Howard wanted to be all along.

For his misery's sake, I hope not.

    Lets see:

A $400 million dollar radio contract
A $15 million dollar a year contract for a major network show
Two beautiful oceanfront estates and a massive Manhattan apartment
A beautiful, much younger, model wife
The highest rated show on satelite radio
The highest rated show on summer TV
Hangs out with celebs and travels by private jet

If that's a decline and fall, sign me up.

I think the personal life stuff is. I think he always wanted to be with a "hot" wife and hanging with a lot of A List celebrities and living a super rich lifestyle. I think the show is a product of that not the cause.

"The year following the Artie Era was the most neutered radio of Stern’s career, and the only real laugh I remember having the entire time was when Stern feigned retirement in order to prod a co-worker into hysterics—which it promptly did."

I agree with his opinions but it's sad he fell for the lame fake bit when Sal supposedly thought Howard was retiring. He really must have been a loyal fan to believe that horseshit.

He's right about the movie being a turning point, but that wasn't the end.

Once again you have proven that you are a mouth breathing mongloid. I am going to take it slow so your down syndrome infected brain can grasp and comprehend the content:

The author of that blog was not talking about the material wealth and status Stern obtained. He was talking about the reason Stern's radio show content has become so soft and changed so much that his old fans are disappointed and leaving in droves.

I understand what you are trying to do, but here is the problem, you are just not smart enough to pull it off. You lack the intellect to comprehend and analyze the posts here and craft a clever argument to the contrary. Please know it is not your fault, low IQ and the resulting reading and response comprehension is mostly genetic and was handed down to you from your mouth breathing mongloid parents.

lol exactly, took the words out of my mouth, just because you don't like what he does now doesnt mean his career has declined....

I am sure some of the older fans have left, but where is proof of this "great decline"?

Howard's rich and hangs with celebrities so the show must be better than ever.

He is talking about the decline in content on the show, not the decline in Howard's bank account.

BTW, the highest rated show on Satellite radio is like being the skinniest person at a fat farm. No one gets ratings on Sirius. Hence why Sirius never publishes ratings.

    Failed first marriage.

Failed ratings on AGT. Wanted to spin into more network gigs.

Daughters live on opposite ends of the earth.

Wig, teeth, plastic surgery look so bad it's funny.

Horriable interviewer, asks the same 3 guests the same 3 questions

Pissed on his fans. His fans pissed right back

As much as I loved it, Sal's routine at the Gary Roast was probably the turning point.

Yes, Howard's presentation of his personal life was exposed as a fraud after the movie but at least he still posessed the awareness that if he wasn't able to bring it like he used to he would cede some of the spotlight to Artie and let him become the comedy focal point and outrageous crazy persona on the show.

While his show's qaulity dipped when he turned it into Air America in 2004 (In hindsight I think this was a well orchestrated ploy to create attention and pave the way for him to leave FM radio as his ratings were in decline but when he started bashing Bush for a few hours everyday he was able to pick up some new fans and media attention) he went right back to doing some of the best radio of his career during his first 2 years of sirius (06-07).

However when Sal completely obliterated Beth at the roast that is when HOward started censoring his show to appease his wife.

I understand him getting upset and putting a stop to the horse jokes and personal beth bashing (although he had no problem bashing alison and everyone else's wife), but then he allowed his basically allowed his wife to become a second producer.

Beth's friends want to come on to promote their shitty products......come on down
Beth's gay friends don't like my gay jokes........they must be raised above all others
Beth want's to appear on morning shows and the Hamptons's party circuit.................Time to make up with and suck up to Ellen, Kathee Lee, Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Al Roker
Beth want's to go to LA parties...........no more making fun of celebrities or public figures (except for Mel Gibson, Jay Leno and whoever else is unacceptable to that crowd)
ALso a result of the above two. Stern is no longer a liberatarian who usually votes for democrats but still makes fun of them. He's now a bleeding heart limo-liberal who wants to save the animals, earth, and be happy to pay higher taxes.......while he bulldozes a beach front to build a mansion, buy another one, take private plains, limos everywhere, and uses his florida house to avoid ny taxes raised by the mayor he supported

No more porn stars (not too big of a loss)
No more wackpackers that may offend or are a bit too crazy and unpredictable. Daniel Carver, Elliot Often, Big Foot, Crazy Alice.....get the fuck out. Bobo, Maryanne, Eric the gifted actor, Tan Mom, Pet lad you are on the air
    and finally

His wife likes American Idol, so he joins whatever shitty reality talent show that will take him against the advice of his agent, his longest tenured and most loyal co-worker, as well as his in-house expert on all things television

Knowing how much worse his show is, he now doesn't even take real calls or confront anyone, instead arguing with sound bites

Like the guy who wrote the article, I stopped listening when he joined agt and when it's all said and done, I will remember him for all the good things and the laughter he once provided

Listeners wise, his career has taken a huge dive. His ratings were falling fast before he left terrestrial radio because his listeners were aging out and he was not getting younger listeners at the rate he used to. That is well documented. Nearly a decade later and being on a subscription paid service, the decline had to be even more exponential.

    WHAT???

It's around. Try Sirius radio 2-3 mornings a month, channel 100.
