Political parties, not voters, choose their presidential nominees, a Republican convention rules member told CNBC, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories.

"The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That's the conflict here," Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Wednesday. He even questioned why primaries and caucuses are held.

There's no law that says the GOP needs to exist (hint, hint).

This is true, we could have a third, or even a fourth viable political party to choose candidates from. That said, have you looked at the other democracies that have multiple parties representing constituencies in their respective congresses? Germany? Israel? What happens in those countries is that the smaller parties have to build coalitions to pass legislation, budgets, etc. In many respects it's more democratic than here, but in most other respects, it's counter-productive.

I saw that coming down 6th avenue.

This is going to get very interesting, especially with the new SC Justice candidate being announced today.

I've never been remotely involved in anything political in my entire life but I'll seriously burn this shit down if they try to plug their own candidate in.

I was hoping that the demise of the republican party would be more splashy.

I realize all our political power is about as tangible as a unicorn fart, but it's pretty wild when someone says flat-out "no, your votes don't matter"

The country will be in an uproar and unite WITH Trump if that happens. The entire political system can't fail because a few GOP's have wet pussy's

Between this and the Hillary coin flip shit, both parties are doing serious damage to themselves.

We're getting closer to an electable 3rd party/independent candidate.

Don't forget about the Democrat's "Super-Delegates". Basically the same snub.
