Guess Sal will be happy but so will I now that I don't have to hear people bitch and moan about the injustice of KISS not being inducted.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year's inductees: Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt will all join the class of 2014. The E Street Band will be given the Award for Musical Excellence and Beatles manager Brian Epstein and original Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldgham will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers.

Inevitable. Is Wenner dying or was this a fan vote like Rush?

If you have a problem with KISS being in, then you know zero about rock n' roll and should probably shut the fuck up about rock n' roll.

What's important is that R.E.M. is in the "Rock and Roll" hall of fame!

Bands should just decline that shit organization all together as long as that shit magazine still runs it! I still can't believe that Rolling Stone actually lists the guitarist to this shit band R.E.M. as one of the greatest of all times, while they leave off a half dozen other great guitarists.

Sure, I know they ripped off Alice Cooper's gimmick and stage antics while releasing 3 decent songs in their history. Well, at least now that this gimmick band is in it opens the door for Weird Al to get in next.

KISS is "influential"...they lead to Motley Crue and WASP. Great. That's the basically the low rung of American rock. And Ace Frehley was so talented, that Dick Wagner, Bob Kulick, Rick Derringer had play lead on albums recorded while he was in the band. One of the gayest bands too. Managed by Bill Aucoin and much of the stage persona/production was by Sean Delaney. Aucoin's "roommate". Who later founded the Skatt Bros, a hard rock Village People.

    This. :golfclap:

Their biggest contribution in music has been showing bands/artists how to market themselves to the lowest common denominator for maximum profit.

Peter Gabriel deserves it, at least for his work with Genesis. They weren't as successful with him leading, but still really influential to other bands/artists.

Genesis is already in, Gabriel had a gig and missed the induction though. He probably got in based on the Sledgehammer video alone though he did have several other solo hits. Still a marginal choice in my opinion but eh.

How will Gene Simmons parlay this into yet another avenue for his brain dead fans to further engorge his bank account?

The Doobies should get in just based on their What's Happenin' appearance, alone
