if it's on I get fished into watching it for hours. I have not seen these shows since I was a kid but I still remember all the lines and songs. Anything important I forget right away .
I never liked how he got all those chicks . I thought Mickey was the balls . The funny thing is I listened to Mickey on Gilbert's pod cast last night .
Just think , any hot chicks on this show are in there 70s now. One thing I love about old time TV is when they show a hot chick they play that slow trumpet sound. They should bring that back .
at least they could get up on stage and play a little http://guerrillamonster.com/memphis/monkees/index.html Memphis Tennessee, Mid-South Coliseum - December 1966
I was assigned to in house security for a in store event about 15 years ago. It was Mickey, Dave and Peter.......I was stunned at the turnout.....people really love their nostalgia. Dave seemed fragile even back then, hobbling around on one leg (blew out his knee, if I remember correctly), Mickey a bit of a prima donna, Peter was the most "normal" and genuine of the three. They were fucking troopers, signed autographs for two hours straight, with women in their 40's and 50's behaving like they were having multiple orgasms (maybe they really were).
I met Peter at a comic show a while back . He was a good dude . Mickey was charging to even take a photo of him . I brought his bio book that I own for him to sign and he even charged for that . I already bought his god damn book and he wanted me to pay to get it signed ?! Fuck that . I saw he was kind of an ass also . It's too bad because he was my favorite as a kid .
After the event, we led the Monkees into the stockroom so they could get to their car and Mickey wanted to immediately wash his hands after the signing (which I don't blame him), but when I told him the bathroom was back up at the front of the store and I would take him up there, he mumbling something about the two hours being up and he had enough of these fucking people and he was ready to leave. Dave and Peter were cool and just hanging out, ready to take photos with employees, etc. Mickey was visibly impatient.
i watch it once in awhile. i'm surprised at how many of their songs i know and like. i don't remember listening to much music back then.
I was just watching it too and was gonna start a thread to see if anyone liked them!! I really love their music-always loved Mike, I think he's the most talented. Thanks HD!
And I forgot to mention that he was unhappy that we did not have a "private bathroom".....sorry dude, this is the real world. I guess he washed his hands with Perrier when they got into their limo! But like I said they did sign a lot of autographs, so it's hard to judge too harshly. It's just that he fit the difficult celebrity cliche and Dave and Peter did not. Although I think Dave was so loaded up on pain pills that he didn't really care about anything that day.
Looks like a lot of empty seats at that concert. Ouch, that's gotta hurt. I saw Mickey play at Epcot a few years back. He filled in for Davey who was originally booked, but who died unexpectedly. He put on a pretty good show and seemed to be generous with the backup musicians, giving them their moment in the spotlight without hogging it. I was with my grandson who was 3 at the time. He was naming with Mickey on his homemade paper guitar and Mickey loved it. He threw him his sweat rag and after the show signed his paper guitar for the kid. The guy was alright in my book.
