The most expensive cities to have a dog are:

    1. San Francisco, California
    2. Fort Lauderdale, Florida
    3. Aurora, Colorado
    4. Portland, Oregon
    5. Chula Vista, California
The least expensive cities to have a dog are:

    1. Phoenix, Arizona
    2. The Woodlands, Texas
    3. Nashville, Tennessee
    4. Detroit, Michigan
    5. Fayetteville, North Carolina
The ranking is based on the following criteria:

    • Housing: How much more you'll pay for a dog-friendly rental compared to the average cost of all rentals in the city, based on data from Walk Score, a Redfincompany.
    • Healthcare: Average monthly premium and $250 deductible to insure a mixed breed male puppy with Trupanion, a company that offers medical insurance for cats and dogs.
    • Pet Care: Average daily rates for dog sitting and day care, based on data from Rover.com, the nation's largest network of dog lovers for hire.

spending $50+/month for healthcare or $25+/day for a baby sitter seems awful silly to me
I love dogs and shit but it's a fucking dog

this makes me seem meaner and more heartless than I really am

Well, I work in San Francisco. And judging by the sidewalks here, the cost ain't because anyone is cleaning up after the pet.

That's why I run a cattle ranch at my office. I pass on the costs of pet ownership to the end user.

Prescott, AZ is a great place to live. And one if those reasons is that EVERYONE takes their dogs EVERYWHERE! I take my dog everywhere too, but I keep her in the car. These people take them EVERYWHERE!
