Howard watches movies so this is certainly Howie related!

I just finished watching the Coen's True Grit remake. It was solid, well shot and definitely worth a watch, but that overbearing little girl was way too much for me. I get it...that was the intention, but her acting ability didn't mesh up well with the rest of the cast and I think she was written just a bit too strongly. There was zero subtlety.

I must admit that I've never seen the original; so this isn't based on any comparison. Also, I couldn't stop thinking about Bigfoot every time I heard Jeff Bridges deliver a line as Rooster Cogburn, it is.

    Your turn.

I love good movies, great movies in fact. Chinatown is one of my favories. but sometimes only camp will do.
One of the best campy movies is Valley of The Dolls. It the guiltiest of guilty pleasures. It has great bad acting, unforgettable lines, like "Boobies, boobies, boobies..who needs them?", "Sparkle, Neely, sparkle" and "Nudies. That's all they are. Nudies", a vicious catfight, a great theme song sung by Diane Warwick and the beautiful Sharon Tate.

The original True Grit was better because John Wayne was a big star and played second fiddle to the kid (who really held her own). I love Bridges, but he will always be The Dude (man). It was a good remake, but not nearly the film as the original.

I just put it on my queue. I'm not a John Wayne fan *ducks tomatoes* but I'll give it a try. Out of curiosity.

The other day, I watched Ace In The Hole which is a 1951 Billy Wilder sub-film noir loosely rewritten paralleling the tragic 1925 adventure of Spelunker Floyd Collins. Wilder completely unleashes Kirk Douglas' sharpened ego in a way only his chiseled chin could approve of. If you enjoy the swagger of a 'big city boy' calling all the shots in a time of trouble, you might find yourself captivated for the entire film like I was. It's by no means Wilder or Douglas' best works but it was a perfect collaboration for these two. 8/10.

I'd love The Jerk if it were the color of a baboon's ass.

I also love Debbie Does Dallas (the original not the horrible re-make).

You're a funny son of a bitch, so I put that on my list. If it sucks, I'm gonna send you a virus under the guise of a Harlock email request.

The problem with you people is that you're all very old. I'm against that.

Oh Harlock! Yes. I didn't think anyone would notice. That was one of my favorite scenes.

You get a rep for that.

Uh oh. Spoke too soon. I can't give you a rep just yet.
