The power of the bomb has been largely forgotten, and I think it's almost a sin to forget what these evil weapons can do...

"Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte... just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb."

the bomb is pretty powerful but it is nothing compared to the power of Larry inc. @LawyerLarry fists are more powerful than 10 nuclear bombs and responsible for more deaths. @ClintDagger can drive a golf ball with the force of a atom bomb. @ShutUpSitDown can disable any bomb in under 20 seconds . and @Biff Dibiase is currently getting bombed in vegas.

Nuclear holocaust fiction is of keen interest to me. If you really want to shit yourself, look up the BBC movie Threads. That makes The Day After look like The Little Mermaid.

If you're just far enough from GZ, you could have your flesh melted from your bones by boiling clouds of radioactive gas, and you could live a few seconds through it....

I'm still working on part 3 on my Xbox 360 (well... I was until I started traveling). Amazing game. Put many hours into it and I'm only halfway through or so. I takes place in a Washington DC. A nuclear bomb went off in the 1950s and it takes place somewhere in 2277, which creates this really unique and disturbing old-school/sci-fi setting. Everything shows you life was good up until the 1950s, and after that everything went to shit.

The trailer for part 4 looks insane, although die-hard fans say it's not as good as Part 3 and New Vegas, which is part 3.5, I guess.

You can buy Fallout 3 for cheap on Steam for the PC.

I've always wondered why we discontinued development of the neutron bomb. By and large it does the killing but leaves the infrastructure intact out away from ground zero. That would make sense if the objective was to conquer. Thermonuclear weapons are completely indiscriminate objects of total destruction.
