Scott Mackenzie the son of 84 year old Powerball winner Gloria Mackenzie. Scott lives in Jacksonville now but I imagine in a few months he will be down in South Beach banging whores two at a time.
He is probably shitting bricks hoping Mom doesn't write him out of the will.

Gets his 40% of the lump sum. What wasn't paid out in the lump sum gets kicked back to government programs as well. Then when the old goat kicks the bucket he gets 1/2 of whatever is left when she dies.

    Tip of the day?

Don't let anyone go in front of you in the lottery line. She bought the winning ticket after someone else let her go ahead of them in line.

He probably doesn't give a shit but her other 3 children are probably busy mending fences.

"MacKenzie wore dark sunglasses and linked arms with her son, Scott MacKenzie, as she walked through a phalanx of cameras facing straight ahead. She left the lottery office without saying anything but left behind a statement to be read by O'Connell.
MacKenzie said she and her son had an agreement to split any winnings. She bought the winning ticket at a Publix grocery store after previously buying four other tickets, her statement said."

article says she ges $370,896,780 which is %64 after tax rate of %39.6 Then she gets %224,021,655, also don't know why they wouldn't form some type of corp or LLC so that he doesn't have to pay alot of inheritance tax when she kicks it, possibly a trust. I bet she gives most of her money to charity anyway.

If that was my home and I just won that monster-sized lottery? There would be skid marks on the front lawn as I high-tailed it the fuck out of that shanty town.

Fair enough, but please remember that for millions of people a detached single family house, even that one, is an unreachable dream home.

    [h=1]5 Things to Know About the $590 Million Powerball Lottery Winner[/h]JUNE 6, 2013 – 12:37 PM – 0 COMMENTS
The lucky winner of the second-largest lottery jackpot in history has finally come forward. The new millionaire is: Gloria C. MacKenzie, 84, of Zephyrhills, Florida.
MacKenzie purchased the only winning ticket at a supermarket near Tampa, giving her sole ownership over the $590 million Powerball jackpot. The pot’s size is second only to the $656 million Mega Millions prize that was won in March 2012, but that sum was divided among three winners, making MacKenzie the biggest lottery winner of all time.
“We are grateful with this blessing of winning the Florida Lottery Powerball jackpot,†MacKenzie said in a statement read by lottery officials. “We hope that everyone would give us the opportunity to maintain our privacy for our family’s benefit.â€
After claiming the prize Wednesday at the Florida Lottery’s Tampa headquarters, MacKenzie left quickly, didn’t speak to reporters, and hasn’t revealed her plans for the money. But information about the lucky lady—and the serendipitous way she came to buy the winning ticket—has slowly surfaced. Below, five facts about the winner:
    1. She’s a widow with four children.
MacKenzie currently lives in a small, tin-roof house in Zephyrhills, a small town with a population of 13,300. Originally from Maine, she retired to Florida about ten years ago with her husband, Ralph, who passed away in 2005, the AP reports. The couple reportedly has four kids together: two daughters and two sons.
    2. She snagged the winning ticket thanks to a friendly stranger.
It was a fellow lottery ticket purchaser with polite manners who allowed MacKenzie to buy the winning ticket. “While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning Quick Pick ticket,†MacKenzie said in a statement. That person has also come forward: Mindy Crandell, 34, allowed MacKenzie to cut in front of her in the lottery ticket line, telling her to “go ahead.†Crandell said she’s happy for MacKenzie and not resentful that she came so close to winning the jackpot herself. “I’m not upset. If it was meant to be, it would’ve happened for us,†she told local news channel WTSP. “Maybe there’s something for us down the road.â€
    3. She made careful plans before coming forward to claim her winnings.
When MacKenzie came to the Florida lottery’s Tallahassee headquarters to claim her prize, she came prepared. According to lottery officials, she was accompanied by her son, a family friend, and two lawyers, and the team spent two hours completing the lottery paperwork. “They had clearly been preparing for this. They took all this time to get everything in order,†lottery spokesman David Bishop said.
    4. She chose to collect the jackpot as a lump sum.
Lottery winners have the choice of accepting their winnings as one lump sum or in 30 portions paid over the course of 29 years (with a slightly higher total than the large payment). MacKenzie took her prize in a lump sum of $370 million rather than annual payments of $19 million. After taxes, she will take home about $278 million all at once.
    5. Her neighbors describe her as a quiet, affable lady deserving of the windfall.
“I’m very happy for her. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. She was always pleasant and smiling,†James Hill, one of MacKenzie’s neighbors, told the AP. “She didn’t say anything about [the lottery]. She’s so quiet and secluded,†he added. Another resident from MacKenzie’s modest neighborhood, Don Cecil, joked, “I hope she gets a better plce to live.â€

In fairness, she didn't just get ushered ahead in line. She cut. She was called out by the lady's kid that was right behind her, but the mom told her it was alright. Then the cashier told her to wait due to her cutting, but again, the other lady said it was alright. See what respecting the elderly gets you? Never understood that. Be nice to them because they haven't died yet. Billions of people do that everyday and they don't get a discount at the Olive Garden. Please be aware that my seething, unbridled jealousy has nothing to do with the above statement. I swear.

Are people really this stupid, to think the woman earlier in line would have got the same ticket? Because that dumb idea doesn't seem to be going away. Maybe basic programming courses should be mandatory after all. It's not a fucking slot machine you idiots.
