I remember watching The Simpsons long time ago when they were a pretty good show. I saw some of the recent episodes and it was absolute crap. Who still watches it??

I still watch it. I remember watching the first episode ever when I was a kid.

I still watch it and enjoy it. But for the past 10 years the cool thing is to say how terrible the show has now become and ask who actually watches it anymore.

I stopped watching it years ago. I tried watching two episodes this season and couldn't make it through the first segments.

How are their ratings? Is the show still viable?

Heh, I saw this pic after searching for "old Simpsons":

Same here. It's so bad. I gave it a try few times this year and just clicked over.

My parents didn't let me watch it as a kid and I'd sneak it in every so often. I thought it was good because I was doing something "bad." Once adulthood hit I could not care much less about the program.

I own the first five seasons on dvd. I break them out every now and then. But I haven't seen a new episode in quite a long time. If the show is anything like that god awful movie they shit out a few years ago, then I'm better off for it.

Oh man, don't get me started. My folks limited my viewing habits big time. I didn't see an R rated flick till I was 17. It's embarrassing what I was allowed to watch. That family stuff like the show with the Olson twins. Full House. But stuff on Fox was big-time no-no. No Married with Children. Nossing!

The other side of the coin was they let me watch a lot of the old re-runs of black and white shows. Stuff like Twilight Zone (which looking at it now, it was sometimes fairly mature content), Alfred Hitchcock, Honeymooners, Rawhide, etc.

I don't know if it was a bad thing or good thing but when I was a kid around adults and I'd recall an episode of Twilight Zone, I'd get the funniest looks. "Boy, your daddy was barely even alive when that show ran. How do you know about it?" I guess it was a good thing because Twilight Zone is still some of my favorite stuff and The Simpsons could be obliterated tomorrow and it wouldn't matter to me.

In the 3rd grade, when The Simpsons was just starting, I drew this picture of Bart and my teacher saw it and asked if she could have it. She was this super hot Nepalese woman that I had the biggest crush on.

Well, she sent it to an old college friend of hers. A man named Matt Groening. He sent her a sketch of Bart that was autographed and he wrote a little note on it addressed to me. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! So what did I do? I drew all the other Simpson family members next to Groeing's Bart. I turned it into the shitties thing ever...

The Simpson's is no different than any other long running sitcom. Pretty soon you run out of ideas, unless you want to poke fun at modern day things/news, ala Southpark.

I've gotten bored with the show. Too many guest stars, too much focus on political hot buttons, too much Marge & Lisa, and the characters have become caricatures of themselves.

I certainly can't watch the first few seasons either. They're boring, dated, and have been run in syndication so long that I've seen them all at least a dozen times.

It's a shame, though. There was a period in the middle there when the show was firing on all cylinders and the secondary characters were pure gold. Gimme a liberal dose of stupid Homer alongside Mr. Burns, Ralph Wiggum, Chief Wiggum, Lenny, Krusty, Duffman, Milhouse, Otto, etc. any day.

    It just got too stale.

I liked when Homer crammed a crayon up his nose and it got stuck in his brain and the time when Ned said, "Goodbye little doodle."
