Any whole army carved out all to protect the Emperor in his afterlife. It took 10 years to build. It averages about 3 million tourists a year.

The Terracotta Army or the "Terracotta Warriors and Horses" is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife.

The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BCE,[1] were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong District,Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The figures vary in height according to their roles.

The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang (221 BC-206 BC), the first Emperor of China. It is the most popular tourist attraction in Xián and one of the most popular in all of China. It is estimated that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits.

This man was not a good person. He burned scrolls (books) and had educators killed.

This story is really fascinating actually.
There was writings of the army's existence and everyone believed it to be a myth UNTIL IT WAS UNEARTHED!
There's also supposedly a perfect scale replica of the city buried under that mound complete with twinkling jewel stars and flowing rivers of mercury.

I would think just as impressive is the fact that no other armies over all those years never destroyed them...unless they were completely hidden?

Some farmers in 1974 discovered the army while digging for water.
