Bout to watch this. The 80's movie is one of my faaaaavorites so I'm hoping it's good. I hear they started off with practical effects but then dropped them and did computer generated effects. That doesn't bode well.

Yeah, it's really hard to top the first but I love it so much I'm willing to give it some leeway.

The one with Kurt Russell was near flawless .. One of the best sci-fi movies of that era... CGI will only fuck things up

Just pretend you've never seen the first remake...or the original from the 50s.
In fact, pretend you've never seen a colour and talkie before and its ok.
    Sorta.

Not bad. Not great. I love the 1982 so much that I found stuff to like about it. A little nod here and there to the John Carpenter music. The ending transition to the 82 film.

GTFO, it was an awful remake... John Carpenter's was the best!

Yup. It's like comparing Aliens vs. Predator to the first two of either franchise!

John Carpenter comes up with some cool soundtracks....

It's just not Halloween without this music playing somewhere in the background ... It is to Halloween what 'Jingle Bells' is to Christmas
