    They're just too fuckin long!
There is almost no one I want to hear him interview for an hour+.
I really used to enjoy his interviews on terrestrial radio. 20-30 mins.
    That's all you need!

If they're too long he starts to repeat his questions/topics or obsess on something like how much they make.

It's not about the length of the interview. It is whether he phones it in and barely even listens to the interviewee's response before talking over him/her or he goes into a Dr. Howie psychoanalysis session and try to explore the guest's childhood tramas to get some insight of them as an adult.

Even with the annoying traits of Howard's interviews (psycho babble, beer can penis obsession, Robin's interruptions, etc.), I think his interviews are among the better ones out there. The late night guys (Leno, Letterman, Kimmel) interviews are superficial. Piers Morgan isn't bad.

I think the length of the interview should depend on how it's going. 1 hour with Chris Martin or Billy Joel:good. 1 hour with Brooke Hogan: bad

Stern is filming a TV show.
Do an 80 minute interview on radio...
Make an amazing 40-50 minute HOWARDTV show.
    :cheer:

howard has developed some annoying affectations when he interviews....he starts to mince his words and his voice gets higher and softer...and when he asks questions, it seems as if he's making a statement rather than asking a question. it's howard acting like a shrink rather than an interviewer on the radio. it's like a parody of a shrink in a woody allen movie.
i can't stand the way he interviews.

I love the part where he asks a question and then doesn't allow the guest to answer by asking another question..

    Yes!

And don't forget the way he feels it necessary to paraphrase what he AND the guests say, in other words, he's an annoying, pompous, condescending asshole!

    Interviews???
    Don't u mean Dr.Stern's Therapy Sessions??? :rolleye:
He relates his own miserable childhood/parents to every guest asking such
personal (sometimes ballsy) questions that HIS therapist must ask HIM! haha
ie: asking Lisa Lampenelli if she feels like a FAILURE???
because she had to do gastric bypass to lose 80lbs??

    that's a question I would ask Robin...

    thank you
    peace & love

ps...Howard's interviews USED TO BE amazing! now they're just predictable
    ......"all about HIM" ;)

Do you think he's subconsciously mimicking his shrink? Does anybody think his weird shift in interview "style" has been intentional over the last several years.

Everybody blames Beth for the human douche drip he's become, but I think it's the constant psychoanalysis. Maybe it's even that coupled with meds that he refuses to admit that he's been taking. It has to be something more than the simple influence of a wonky-eyed 40 year old child.

This. I can almost picture him putting his thumb and pointer finger together and gently swaying them back and forth as he uses his annoying new interview voice where he asks some rambling statement/question. His "questions" go on for so long he usually has to sum them up at the end..."in other words.". Fucker just loves to hear himself talk.

"Do you know I'm a judge on America's Got Talent? I'm America's judge"

    "Do you like anal?"

"Do you have a big cock? Is it the size of a beer can?"

    "Ever orgy, hash oil?"

"How much do you think you are worth?"

    End of interview

They are long, but at this point the interviews are the only part of the Stern show that is worth a damn these days. They are also need for show fillers

    Bits are long gone
Howard no longer discusses anything remotely interesting about his life
Howard no longer mocks vapid celebrities and personalities, he instead kisses up to them
The news is simply robin reading headlines and howard doing live reads

Some of them are, it depends on the guests. Sometimes he interviews someone and I wish the show was 8 hours long. Sometimes I'm done after 30 seconds.

Please don't take that last sentence out of context.

it's definitely intentional! it's supposed to sound conversational rather than confrontational (as he used to be). i find it to be very annoying and false. he's trying to become the new and improved howard stern so that the cable or network execs beg him to host a late night or interview show.
it won't work...his face is just too unpleasant for TV (especially if it's just howard and not an ensemble show like AGT).
