The day that happens will be known as the day The Tonight Show died.

No, they're actually doing it. Read the story. Their building a new set for Fallon as we speak.

Good to see that the NYT didn't mention the Buchwald-planted rumor about Howard taking over for Jay.

    We know how this works...

Personally, it's WGAS/WGAF as I don't watch late night shows - but I think Fallon has talent. (Though I want to punch him in the throat every time I see the insipid Capital One commercials - not fun, not funny).

...me too and howard will get shit on if he tries to fuck with fallon. jimmys not the best interviewer but hes talented, gets big guests on his show, and has a lot of people in the biz that like him and want more. howard not so much.

tweet this to howard so he can be sure its over, his time has passed. good thing he saved his money.

Eh...Conan had his chance and blew it. He didn't do anything special on The Tonight Show and didn't do anything special on TBS. That's why nobody talks about him anymore.

Leno got shafted, too, let's not forget.

Leno was 53 or 54 when he was told of the Conan succession plan, which he privately hated but publicly had to support because of loyalty to the company.

    Conan turns 50 next month.

Imagine in 3 years, Conan being told of a succession plan to replace him.

Poor Dave. Every late-night host (Conan, Fallon) got the job except him.

Curious thing, considering in years past it was thought the Tonight Show always had an advantage through its proximity to "A List" guests in LA.

Does this mean that Howard will have to host Late Night from LA?

ya, leno led the ratings for every year he had the show & conans peeps told nbc 5 yrs or we take our talent elsewhere now.
so the true genius of nbc said ok. leno never approved, he had no choice if he wanted to keep the job 5 more yrs anyway...
nbc was hoping lenos ratings would tank by year 5 so they would have a legit excuse.

when year 5 popped & leno was still on top, they looked for ways to keep leno & make both happy & they fucked it all up again...

but somehow leno shafted conan...:rolleye: i'm amazed at the dumfuks around here & the lack of business acumen:facepalm:

Jimmy Kimmel wins if they go to NY. The entertainment industry is in LA.

And don't forget: Howard bitched about Leno not storming out of The Tonight Show and going to another network.

But going to another network would've meant assembling a whole new team, working with brand-new people and shmoozing with a whole country full of new affiliates. It would've been a lot of work, especially at that stage of his career.

And success at a new network wasn't guaranteed.

If Leno had followed Howard's advice, he'd probably be off TV by now.

Instead, he's exactly where he wants to be -- as host of The Tonight Show.

If Howard got the Tonight Show he would FAIL there too....he asked the same old questions over and over and most of them wouldn't make it on air.

    1. How big is/was your/his penis
    2. Have you had lesbian sex
    3. How much are you worth

Like someone else said, this is the beginning of the end of the Tonight Show and now I put more credibility into Howard taking over Fallon's show.
