I've never seen so many people pitch in to try to help. Last night there were emergency vehicles from all over lined up for miles on I35 outside of town waiting to see if they could help. On Twitter and Facebook there were people volunteering for strangers to come and stay with them . There was even a Facebook site for lost pets.

In DFW they had to announce that you needed to get an appointment to give blood because all of the centers are overflowing with people wanting to give blood. People from nearby cities are manning all of the different relief efforts. All of the kids in the West schools will be going to a nearby town on monday to their schools but the West teachers will be there and teaching their regular classes.

There was a story about a 93 year old man who pulled the ceiling off of his 89 year old wife and rescued her.

If any good comes out of this, my faith in humanity has been restored a little bit. :)

Not at all surprised. The kindest culture I have ever known was in TX. Strangers will stop out of no where and put air in your tire. Very very different from other parts of the country.

true story! I was new to TX and my brother took me on a motorcycle ride through some rural areas. Everyone waved to us. I asked why? I lived in LA all my life and no one waves to strangers. :)
