    Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handy:

"If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe
you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey,
    free dummy."

I feel like my instinct would be to try and catch her also. Like a foul ball or something

And he said he doesn't regret doing so. At first I thought he was a dumb ass, but then I thought he was just a dude trying to save someone from certain death. I took an Outward Bound course when I lived in Colorado. That included learning about rock climbing. We were taught to spot people and never try to catch them. Instead, try to hit their redirect them so their head doesn't hit the ground. That girl who fell 11 floors was at or near maximum velocity. I don't know how one can do anything for that. There was zero chance of saving her.

Yeah. I made the mistake of watching one beheading and that was it for me. I'll never get that image out of my mind. The gore of people run over by trains or of a guy whose head got sliced in two by the prop on a boat was a bit much for me, but it always looked unreal, so it didn't affect me as much. The beheading was very real and I don't think it's healthy to look at that shit.

The people that frequent those sites are evil. People commenting on death, seeing torture all that shit. The conversations might have made me more sick than the content actually.

I never read them. I think you're right though. They celebrate that shit. They get off on seeing people die and the gore of mutilated bodies. The question is what was the OP doing there? :dontknow:

I take care of problems on rights of way.
That means glass spills, oil spills... and fatal crashes.
    You get use to it.
I won't normally post pics out of respect for people's privacy.
This asshole was drunk hauling a load of steel and hit a minivan full of people head on. I won't post pics of the minivan.
I try to leave work at work, sometimes it follows me home though.

Can't see how it wouldn't follow you home. You've got to be made of pretty strong stuff to do what you do even if you are used to it.

I've learned not to click on certain threads/links here because they are clearly going to be upsetting and disturbing. When ISIS first started gaining real steam and making headlines, for some inane reason I watched the Foley beheading, which was highly edited but still sickening. I was so upset for so long that I turned away from all that stuff for good. Just can't stomach/process it.

Someone has to do that shit. My neighbor at my cottage is a firefighter. It's very rural there and they're usually the first responders when shit happens. He has seen people who have committed suicide with a shotgun, car accidents, fire victims. It goes with the territory for him. But he isn't looking at that shit for enjoyment. There's a big difference.
