I'm not simply focusing on the inherent joys of the Great Green Ganja. Rather, I'm seeking thoughts/opinions (positive, negative, WGAF) on utilizing marijuana to treat epilepsy, chemo-induced nausea, glaucoma; as well as anxiety and mild depression. How is this possibly Stern related?

It's a absolute shame it's been illegal all these years. Future generations will laugh at us for having legal booze and criminalizing this miracle drug

epilepsy - proven to be beneficial in certain cases

nausea - beneficial and available in Marinol without getting people high

glaucoma - i recently read a study that to see benefits in occular pressure one would need to be high every waking hour of the day and that would still only produce a small and not clinically significant benefite. Unclear at this point.

anxiety/depression - totally case dependent. Some people feel increased anxiety when high secondary to paranoia. Some people benefit greatly from moderate use. Speaking from experience I think that withdrawals (yes its true) in heavy users can induce mild depression and anxiety when use is stopped. The same can be said for almost any commonly used anti depressant.

final opinion: it should be legal for adults 21+ to use at their discretion and should certainly be available for physicians to prescribe as needed. Big Pharma has a heavy hand in influencing politicians to keep it restricted as many of their bullshit pills would be obsolete.

I think it's about damn time. I help legal pot users online figure out how to grow their own and how to make oil or butter out of it to make their own medibles. some of the ladies are making salves and other stuff to use on the outside of the body too.

story after story of people claiming that it helps them. not young dudes looking to get high legally, old folks, sick and scared folks. some it helps, some it doesn't.

i'm a med user but a big fan of pot just for kicks too so i'm a bit biased. :leaf:

in 20 years, the anti pot assholes will deny they ever had a problem with it.

There are probably a lot of lives ruined by narcotic pain relievers for chronic pain that could have used marijuana.

I'm all for it for prescribed medical purposes. It shouldn't be treated any differently than any other prescribed medicine.
Do not drive, do not operate machinery, etc. etc.

In my world I'm totally against it for recreational purposes.

    wish I was on it.

in 05' I suffered a work related injury from a steroid Phx. cop,
resulting in 3 discs removed from my neck.i now have a 3 inch titanium plate
with 8 screws in my throat.

    once I retire I'm getting a card.

marijuana although it should never be smoked can offer serious protective quality to the body and mind. vaporizing or ingesting will be recommended.

i'm sorry to hear that dude. i hope retirement is coming soon. if nothing else, a nice pot high will absotively help take your mind off the pain.
and as a bonus it will typically make things taste better, music sound better, a kiss is sweeter, etc.

    such a deal.

    it's a horrible drug! :grad:

Now THERE'S the scientific and erudite response I was looking for all along!!!!

Marijuana does effect the experience of orgasm, but I don't think federal funding has been made available for that just yet. ;)
