I caught it a bit late unfortunately, but apparently the channel Decades is running nothing but Three Stooges content all week. There's a pretty cool documentary they've been repeating called "Hey Moe, Hey Dad", featuring Billy West (thus the Stern tag).

A line that Artie said while Fred kept playing a sound effect of Curley that had everyone laughing has stuck with me over the years. "If there was any justice in the world Curley would have died a billionaire" As a huge fan of them when I was a kid, it always bummed me out that they never really reaped the rewards of what they did, especially Curley who had a short life, and due to health problems, seemed to have a pretty rough go of it his last few years.

Shit makes me laugh as hard now as when I was a kid. It's just so ridiculous, like a live cartoon. My boys are still too young but I wonder if they'll find any humor in it at all. I was heartbroken when they didn't crack a smile at bugs bunny

I love the Three Stooges. Fucking way ahead of their time.

They were all pretty much okay. Moe took care of their finances. He also took a cut of every paycheck of theirs and stuck it in a trust for their kids.

They were ok, but they should have been filthy rich for all the laughter they brought the world, so that they didn't have to make (largely unfunny)stuff into their 70s.

Totally agree. Unfortunately, syndication didn't exist.

Better than the Marx Brothers by far. The Marx Bros. movies don't really stand the test of time for me. Half of their movies are genius, the other half is a musical. The stooges might be low-brow in comparison, but they've made me laugh harder than any other form of entertainment. Been watching them since as early as I can remember and I still think they're funny to this day, their shorts just never get old.

I'm partial to the Shemp years for a number of reasons. Moe was at the top of his game (my favorite stooge) and Larry brought out more of his kookiness. Loved the cheap remakes of older shorts, and Emil Sitka might as well have been the fourth stooge. I seem to remember reading that Moe considered asking him to join at one point. Plus spotting the fake Shemps was fucking hilarious.

Shemp's totally fucking underrated, he was just as funny and talented as Curly.

If you're within driving distance of Philly there's two Stooges must sees. A half hour north is the Stoogeum. Tons of memorabilia and photos. Very highly recommended.

In Philly the house Larry was born in is now a restaurant. Good food in a real "bohemian" neighborhood. And a nice mural of Larry.

Shemp was unique but Curly was in another league.

I like Shemp eps, but Curly had that magical, childlike, manic energy that nobody could touch.

For some reason I can't recall now, I went down a Three Stooges rabbit hole the other day. Apparently, Moe was the financially responsible one, while his brothers Curly & Shemp spent their money as fast as they made it. Supposedly, Moe took part of their earnings and invested it for them because he didn't want them to grow old and have nothing. Poor Curly went at just 48 after a series of strokes. The best Stooge of them all.

ETA: POTY Biff had the Moe stuff first.

That's awesome! Larry never got enough credit as basically the straight man imo.
