What are your thoughts on time? Is it moving too fast? Would you go back if you could? How do you feel about your place in life, relative to your age?

    Discuss......

Moves too slow when I'm at work and moves too fast when I'm not at work. I have nobody to blame but myself. Everyone keeps their own clock.

Moves too fast. Wish I could go back. I wouldn't change much, but I would enjoy moments more.

For instance, I would've shown up early for Easter a couple years ago, spent as much time paying attention to my uncle as possible and staying late until he left... Last time I saw him alive. He died a week later.

Honestly, I've learned to never look back. The past cannot be changed. There are too many good things in my life that if I were to go back and change some things I didn't like, I might not have the great things I have today. For all I know, one change of events could have led to me being in an accident and dying. I don't worry too much about the future either. All we can control is the here and now, so make it count.

Right question - right time. Just spent about 4 hours drinking some older Italian wines with 3 good friends - we ended up talking about how our families cane to this country and everyone traced back to around 1910-1920 - so about 100 years. How much has changed from what they knew! Time seems to move slower when you're younger and think you have an unlimited amount of days ahead. When you're older - especially of you get to the point where you probably have more yesterdays than tomorrows, time seems to fly by and you need/want to be more purposeful in how you spend your time.

Anyway, we thought that our ancestors must have thought time passed more slowly because they didn't have constant reminders of its passing - digital watches, smart phones that kept precise time or tracked you every second in the day and your activities during the day. The daily rhythms had to be slower and more deliberate than today.

I would go back if I could - just to be more "in the moment" and quit worrying about getting to "tomorrow" - it actually never comes (as the Bond movie suggests). You can only live "today" since tomorrow is promised to no one.

"Let's Live for Today" - The Grass Roots

When I think of all the worries people seem to find
And how they're in a hurry to complicate their mind
By chasing after money and dreams that can't come true
I'm glad that we are different, we've better things to do
May others plan their future, I'm busy lovin' you
    (1-2-3-4)

    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, hey, hey, hey
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Live for today

We were never meant to worry the way that people do
And I don't need to hurry as long as I'm with you
We'll take it nice and easy and use my simple plan
You'll be my lovin' woman, I'll be your lovin' man
We'll take the most from living, have pleasure while we can
    (2-3-4)

    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, hey, hey, hey
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Live for today

A few years ago, a friend of mine casually mentioned- don't wish your life away.
He was referring to him and his wife putting all their time and happiness on their upcoming vacation. Well, when it came, he wound up in the hospital getting his gall bladder out! So they spent all their time thinking about something that never happened....
I always think of that.... I'm happy when it gets here but let's just go thru the steps....
    It's over fast enough!

time is the enemy if that's the way you see it...I remember when I was 19 and my gf at the time (really pretty Scottish girl with a great rack) asked me where I saw myself in 10 years. I told her I'd have my own construction company. it took 3 years longer than that but I did exactly what I said I would. at 41, I indeed have a successful construction company but I'd give it all up to be 19 again. I have the money to drive new vehicles, have a nice house and vacation for a month out of each year, but damn do I miss picking up my buds in my '84 mustang gt and heading to the clubs. Back then we never knew what the night might bring....maybe we'd get into a brawl, get passed-out drunk, laid or in the drunk tank. now I've basically just settled into the predictable monotony that life becomes when following what society suggests.
