...if you get those annoying calls, "hi this is rachael"! trying to sell you everything from carpet cleaning to medic alert pendents then see if your phone provider supports nomorobo. they block those calls and if one gets thru you can report it and theyre on it like white on rice. if you get the free service and a robo call comes in your phone will ring 1 time and disconnect the call automatically. i love this service i was getting way too many of those calls before i got it.

I have been using Nomorobo for a few years now. Your phone will ring once and then nothing. After a while the calls just die off because they don't get through. Easy to set up with FIOS, a little tricky with Comcast but it can be done.

I enjoy long conversations with new friends from third world countries. Wasting their time is so entertaining. I once mimicked that parody where some dude asks me if I wanted to speed up my computer and I pretend that my niceowave is my computer.

...oh yeah the guys from microsoft security are fun to fuck with but theyre usually a live caller not a auto dialer with a recorded message.

The precise moment I made the mistake of putting my resume' up on a job site, I immediately began receiving calls from goat jockeys in pakistan and india, I'm talking morning noon and night, posing as "recruiters" and just reading down a script for some totally unrelated job in another state. And they give themselves some cute name like "Sam" or "Kevin" though their real name is actually Fardeepishad. And they're always on some shit VOIP or Skype connection making the goofy accent even more impossible to understand.

So tread lightly on the job sites, I'm sure its old news to some of you but it was news to me that pakistan is scraping data from these sites and phone-spamming the shit out of everyone as fake recruiters. Maybe use a google voice number to screen calls instead of putting your direct cell# on the resume'

I have Comcast, only because it's part of my package and dial *60 to block calls.

So do I but so many of these scumbags, especially the offshore shysters keep changing spoofed numbers and locations that often using the #60 call blockng code is little more than an exercise in futility. I'm definitely checking this out. I don't answer unrecognized numbers or missing or vague caller IDs under the theory that if it's legit and important they'll leave a message for callback. 99 out of 100 times they never do.

This is true. Thankfully, I rarely use or get calls from my landline, plus it's unlisted. The few that have gotten through have been blocked, but they're far and few in between.

I use to get one that annoyed the piss out of me. When I answered it would be dead on the other end for 2 seconds then a loud ship horn, followed by "Hey, you have a chance to win a free cruise"

Fuck you, I would rather go to palestine then a cruise..............Go maybe thats a little to extreme.

Well realistically, maybe you should consider being more flexible. After all, how many gossip columnist jobs become available each year?

Anybody know if the Verizon Freedom Essentials home phone service is a "FIOS Digital Voice" line or a "traditional landline"?
