This horse is being GIVEN away, to a good home. I'm on the brink myself, to get him for my daughter..........but she's traveling so much right now I think it may be a waste of a good horse, and good money.

And incredibly expensive. I spoke to my daughter's aunt today, who owns a stable..........she said the prices of hay and grain are so out of control, that lots of excellent horses are simply being "given away".

Sad. I'd grab this horse in the blink of an eye, if my daughter wasn't half-way across the goddamn continent right now.

    *sigh*

You clearly pay no attention to me, or what I post of my life, flat.

My daughter is an equestrian. I put her through college for that shit, cost me a lung and a leg.

I'd likely turn it into a stew and some glue for projects for my boys, myself.........but my daughter would turn that horse into a money-maker in no time flat.

If she was even in Canada right now.

Not possible. My boys have a different father than my daughter, whom I had at 16 years old. HER paternal side of the family is very "horse-oriented". Farms, barns, thousands of acres.

My boys don't have a paternal side, and I couldn't possibly carry it all on my own.

I wish my uncle would buy a horse for the property. Then we'd fit in with the rest of the neighbors.

At the risk of sounding racist..........that must mean you live in a white/honkey area.

Sorry, I'm no help here. We have two and my wife is getting constantly barraged to take a third. There is always someone trying to give away horses. I am in the market for a miniature donkey if you happen to come across a freebie. :toptip:

As far as them being "so expensive" they really aren't that bad if you can keep them on your property. For feeding, bedding, vet and farrier we probably only average between $200-$250 a month for our pair. That's not factoring in the price of the barn/fencing/utilities. Hay prices, basically, doubled last year due to the drought but should return to normal-ish this year as long as the weather cooperates. Fortunately we bought a few hundred bales before the spike......hopefully it lasts until the 1st cutting this year.
