Tornadoes, Baseball Size Hail, Flooding In Texas

    Tornadoes were sighted in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex late Sunday evening and other severe thunderstorms in Texas have produced large hail, damaging wind gusts and reported tornadoes. The threat area includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Abilene and San Antonio.

    Tornado Reports
    • At least one large tornado has been spotted since 10 p.m. CDT west of Rio Vista in Johnson County, Texas, just south of Fort Worth. Radar indicated a tornado debris signature with this storm. CBS in Dallas was reporting that semi-trailer trucks had been overturned, roofs were blown off, roads were flooded and the power was out for many of Rio Vista's 900 residents. Spotters reported that a large wedge tornado was on the ground near Rio Vista High School. The reported tornado caused power outages in Rio Vista, Texas, Sunday night.
    • A tornado was spotted 12 miles southwest of Cleburne State Park, Texas, from that same cell.
    • A large tornado was spotted 11 miles east-northeast of Walnut Springs, Texas, around 9:30 p.m. by a trained spotter.
    • A tornado was spotted 3 miles south of Glen Rose, Texas, around 9 p.m. CDT by a trained spotter.
    • A tornado was spotted 5 miles east of Stephenville, Texas, around 7 p.m. CDT by a trained spotter.
    • A brief tornado was spotted 2 miles west of Chalk Mountain, Texas, around 5:30 p.m. CDT by a trained spotter.
    • A tornado was spotted 12 miles north of Gustine, Texas, around 4:15 p.m. CDT by a trained spotter.
    • A trained spotter reported a tornado with debris 3 miles southeast of Rising Star, Texas, in Comanche County around 3:45 p.m. CDT.
    • A tornado was spotted around 3:30 p.m. CDT 4 miles northwest of Sidney, Texas, in Comanche County by a trained spotter.
    • Residents of Brown County, Texas, spotted a tornado on the ground around 3:15 p.m. CDT 1 mile west-northwest of May.
    • A tornado was spotted around 3 p.m. CDT in Burkett, Texas, by storm spotters.
    • A tornado was spotted 3 miles north of Cross Cut, Texas, in Brown County around 2:45 p.m. CDT.
    Hail Reports
    • Tennis ball-size hail was reported 6 miles east-northeast of Glen Rose, Texas.
    • Shelters have been opened in Stephenville at the city library and other locations, according to Stephenville police.
    • Baseball-size hail near Stephenville, Texas, damaged several vehicles.
    • Baseball-size hail was reported near Lueders, Texas.
    • Baseball- and golf ball-sized hail were reported near Dublin, Texas.
    • Baseball-size hail was reported near Stephenville, located about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth. Motorists reported damage to vehicles.
    Other Reports
    • Large trees were downed near Brazos Point, Texas, by strong thunderstorm winds.
    • A structure fire in Gainesville, Texas, was reportedly caused by a lightning strike. The fire was confined to a wall and extinguished.
    • As much as 3 feet of water has been reported on Highway 67 in Cleburne County, Texas, which is located south of Dallas-Fort Worth.
