This is the proposal? Riot told me he voted Obama because he was able to make the tough cuts. Looks like tax increases, more stimulus, and the power to raise the debt limit.

I think this was put out not as an expected solution but a starting point, also it will put the Onus on republicans to put out "hard numbers" of what they'd like to see done, and actually define what and how much they will cut.

Obama needs to follow the Republicans plan....the idea of massive slashes to all sorts of government and project....with thousands and thousands of jobs lost....and virtually all benefits to those without jobs.

More homeless, major unemployed, no jobs, and little to no help from all levels of government...ie roads being fixed, etc.......YEAH! Sounds like an AWESOME PLAN!

After the election the republitards were saying they were ready to compromise on a budget solution. But they still refuse to budge on letting those Bush tax cuts expire.

What kind of compromise were they talking about? They were even on Sunday morning shows saying that they were ready to make a deal BUT did not agree with letting Bush tax cuts expire.

It's retarded. They're talking out of both sides of their mouths at once.

It puts the "Onus on republicans" to be the ones to actually come up with the cuts so they can be attacked for it. I'm not sure there is enough time left for negotiation if this is Obama's starting point. For the first time, I think we may be going over the cliff.

    Compromise:
Rebublicans never give an inch, even to the detriment of their own constituents, and Demoncrats must bend over backwards to appease them, which is still not enough.

Well they're the ones foaming at the mouth for cuts.

Put up or shut up. And yeah, it should be made public from where they wish to cut. Let's see where/how they plan on saving money.

    Should be interesting. :munch:

Didn't Obama campaign on a balanced approach? Cuts in addition to new revenue? Now he proposes nothing but tax increase and new executive powers, and the republicans get bashed for not compromising.

I agree that Republicans should present their cuts to the public. I don't think keeping it a secret is really an option...

Republicans haven't gotten based for not compromising....they are getting bashed for going to a negotiation without knowing what they want to negotiate on.

Why did you ignore the thread where I asked you to explain in detail what the Republicans want to cut?

he doesn't want to cut anything. he doesn't want a balanced approach. we know what he wants. but the "republicans" say they want to cut, but are they serious if they cant say on what?
the truth is, they don't really want to cut the things that need cut, because they don't want to lose that voting block. saying they want to "cut spending" works when you are in the minority because its just talk. but now they have the house, and they can pass any cuts they want, and force the senate or pres. to stop it.

why not just pass the exact same bill as before, for anyone that makes less then 1 million.
yea howard wont like it, too bad, its better than the alternative

do you think it was smart for every rep candidate to say they wouldn't trade 90% spending cuts for a 10% tax increase?
that's real dumb. take the cuts and try to get back the 10% tax later
