Aydian Dowling is tops on the leaderboard for the mag's annual readers'-choice cover guy, which is leading a group that includes three U.S. Army veterans and a self-described “walking billboard." ...The New York native runs a gender neutral clothing line for transgender men and women and helps raise funds for pricey gender reassignment surgeries for those that apply. He has documented his transition to living as a man on a Youtube channel he started in 2009. Though Dowling was born a female, he now identities as a transgender man. The competition does not allow women to participate, but that rule would essentially not be applicable because of his gender identity.
