This Is 'South Park's Trey Parker Singing As Eric Cartman -- Without A Pitch Adjustment
The Huffington Post | By Dominique Mosbergen
    • Have you ever wondered what "South Park" co-creator Trey Parker sounds like when he sings as Eric Cartman — before his voiced is pitched up?

      Wonder no more.

In this 2012 video, which has experienced a resurgence this week after being unearthed on Reddit, Parker can apparently be heard singing the '90s ballad “I Swear” as Cartman. (The potty-mouthed character sings the song in the season 16 episode, “Cartman Finds Love.”)

"South Park" creators have explained in the past that all the kids in the show are “pitch shifted.” Still, it’s mighty entertaining to hear it all in action.

“I should have had this on my wedding playlist,” quipped one YouTube user Sunday after listening to the clip.

“Cartman sounds all grown up,” wrote another.

I never realized till I moved here that Cartman is a perfect exaggerated Colorado accent. It's subtle but it drives me up a wall when people pronounce words like ten as tin around here. I also didn't know that the voices were pitch shifted like that. It's pretty cool.

I miss the Cartman voice he did during the first few seasons. It probably took a toll on his vocal chords.

Wow. Doesn't sound anything like Cartman. Kinda like Wiggy doesn't sound anything like himself without compression.

I really like the first 4 seasons for what they are, it's a totally different show now though. look for this documentary, i couldn't find anything but the trailer on youtube, but you can dl it elsewhere. trey's asked if he'd change anything & he replies 'the first 4 seasons' or something like that. season 5 is where the social satire/commentary really came into full force & cartman turned into a psychopath.

    It was a great episode!!

I think season 4-9 for me was the best, before it became ultra preachy.

To be honest, I think they had like 2 bad seasons (not the last one but the one before that was one of the worst), overall south park is an amazing tv show

    Next season starts next week!!!

That sounds almost as romantic as Eric singing Wild Thing.

Here's hoping they'll do an episode about an outrageaous shock jock going clean and family friendly.

I just played both clips synched up at the exact same point, and they harmonized each other perfectly!!! I'm gonna go pick up my skull pieces now...

The "For better or worse part ..." and a bit after it sounds demonic if you do this.

I didn't care for the first few seasons. I think the social satire is genius and far more entertaining. I haven't seen the Elian Gonzalez episode in a long time, but to me that always a stroke of genius. They did it almost as it was still happening.

I always thought the voices were speeded up somehow and wonder how the music would stay the same but I guess if the pitch is altered that would explain that. Oh I don't know. :lookatme:
