I'm so goddamned confused. So, NBC is refusing to admit they fucked up giving Howard all the money he demanded and moving the show to suit his leisure hours? Is this standard reaction for a network chief when confronted with a once popular program's failure to maintain previous seasons' viewers?
Agreed. Just like they just did with JLo - they let everyone think that she wanted to move on from Idol, or that it was a dispute about money - they will pretend that everything is fine, and allow Howard to start the spin....
I need for Howard to face public humiliation. I need for Jay Leno to come up with a half hour's worth of jokes that will equate the Howard Stern era of AGT with other NBC debacles like the Jay Leno Hour, The Conan/Tonight Show or Supertrain.
So far, the Howard spin is working. Except for those cynical TV critics. But not enough people are pointing out the disappointing ratings. The NY Times or NY Post needs to write a story. But the NY Times is in Howard's pocket.
I've been shocked that Alessandra Stanley- the tv critic for the NYTimes hasn't ripped into this show. She's a vicious, hateful reviewer who despises everything I actually like -which isn't a lot... mostly limited to Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Hell On Wheels (oh yeah.. forgot... she panned the shit out of that one). She was also Keith Olbermann's arch-nemesis. Her politics are right wing and she's such a snotty fucking writer I'd thought she would destroy this piece of shit. Instead I think it was Mike Clark (formerly of USA Today) who was tasked with reviewing the Stern era AGT. God damn... are tv columnists that afraid of the wig-besotted old queen? If so ...why? He has NO listeners!
I don't know. Doesn't Alessandra usually do brand-new scripted shows? By NY Times, I'm referring to Bill Carter, who attended Wiggy Wig's news conference and kissed his ass on Howard TV (See below).
tv executives are not in the habit of admitting failure, unless they want to be unemployed tv executives...
Oh yeah... I forgot all about Bill Carter. He's pretty much limited to covering the business and rating aspects of network and cable tv programming now. I don't know how long it's been since he was an actual reviewer. But oh yeah... Bill Carter's got Howard ass all over his nose & mouth. Which is a shame because the guy is a really good writer.
NBC is going to regret saying nice things about Howard when he sues them. You know they will be used against them.
I want this as well... unfortunately, unless the season takes a complete nosedive after the Olympics, probably won't happen this year. More likely would be next year if the ratings bounce back and then the jokes will come out about "the wiggy experiment"
Can you imagine how hard it would be to admit that you paid a has-been radio d.j. a FORTUNE - PLUS moved your WHOLE production of a worn out, cheesy, Summer-filler talent show from Hollywood to Newark, NJ....... and it FAILED???
NBC will never admit they made a mistake. They will spin it into some lie as if everything is going the way they planned.
