Been on Jury duty for 3 months. I didn't get called for any case but with the Feds you serve 3 months. Which means you could get called for any case on any day. They are very strict and they make it clear that you cannot skip out on it for any reason. thank God it's over, it was major pain in the ass :cheer:

Federal Jury duty is not the same as local. They will come for your ass if you skip.

when i was on jd in federal court here the 3 lawyers in the pool told the judge they "knew" the defendants were guilty just by looking at them. the jury was me, 3 black guys, two black working middle aged women, and the rest were housewives from Westchester. all the women looked at the defendants and said they looked like such nice boys that they would hate for their decision to be the reason they went away for life...

No pay for being on call. You only get paid if you actually serve on a jury, which thank God i didnt.

everyone in NYC serves: they issue warrants for your ass if you don't. since they started they get 100% compliance. local court always lets me out in 2 days because they have so many available jurors now. we finally have wifi in the courtrooms so it's not so bad hanging out for 2 days.

    Wow so you actually served.

I served once in a civil case. We awarded the plaintiff.

I enjoyed my Federal service but it pisses me off whenever I go to any government building higher than local. The money we waste just on fancy decor and furniture is unreal. That Federal courthouse was so nice.
