WASHINGTON (AP) — An Iranian attack aircraft fired at least twice at an unarmed U.S. drone conducting routine surveillance in international airspace over the Persian Gulf, the Pentagon said Thursday. The aircraft missed and the drone returned to base unharmed.

The shooting in the Gulf, which occurred just before 5 a.m. EDT on Nov. 1, was unprecedented, Pentagon press secretary George Little said. The incident was not disclosed sooner because the military does not discuss classified surveillance missions, but agreed to answer questions after news reports revealed the shooting.

wouldnt this be an act of war? :c

Bill Maher suggested Friday that Americans would label drone attacks “terrorism†if another country were to act against the U.S. in a similar way.

“I didn’t go to West Point or anything but I’m guessing if one of our planes came upon an unmanned Iranian death-copter off the coast of Jersey the order wouldn’t be to ‘get a nice picture of it,’†Maher wrote.

He continued: “We utilize the best means at our disposal to go into foreign lands and blow up the people we consider the bad guys even if that means collateral damage in the form of civilian casualties. When someone does that exact same thing to us, don’t we call it ‘terrorism?’â€

"The Bureau of Investigative Journalism in Britain has estimated that, in the first three years after President Obama took office, between 282 and 535 civilians were credibly reported killed by drone strikes — including more than 60 children."

you have to be amazed that there is a couple of people here who are not only comfortable with the idea of drone strikes but to an extent promote them. Well, I disagree with this but let me just remind you: We can continue to drone strike and continue to amass civilian deaths. But don't think for a second that this goes unnoticed by the people who live in these countries and surrounding areas. When civilians in those countries see how innocent people are killed, barbarically at times even, it becomes easier for them to commit terrible acts on the US for revenge. So sure, if you guys are okay with Drone strikes, that's fine. But don't be surprised to find people angry with the US or people trying to do harm to the US.

    USA!!!! USA!!!! USA!!!!
Until, of course, blowback happens. Then all of a sudden everyone's a terrorist except the CIA
