I always take a taxi from my apartment to the airport once a week and now have a choice to use Uber.

Is Uber a far better experience vs. taxi?

its great!. the cars are all late model and clean (really like new). they show up immediately; the drivers are clean (and don't remind you of jim ignatowski of Taxi). Every one I've called so far speaks English and they all got out and helped me in and out of the car (my crutches are difficult to maneuver). I used their UberXL to return home after the surgery; they sent a Suburban with rear bench seats so i could lay across it, and the next day they gave me $20 off the fee.

A guy who you don't know shows up in his personal vehicle and promises to drive you somewhere then release you if you give him money.

It's like a kidnapping, but usually you survive.

Uber is being allowed to break the law in NYC. They do virtual street hails without a Medallion.

It will probably destroy the yellow cab business, those peeps paid the city hundreds of Millions for the right to street hails, City said go fuck yourself.

Carpooling is completely illegal for everyone but Uber. They paid nothing for that right.

Everyone else has a cap on numbers, yellows greens, Uber is allowed to keep flooding the city with cars.

The TLC commissioner who let them in left to work directly for Uber. Last TLC Chairman works for Lyft.

I tried to use Uber for work and the driver wrote me a receipt on a McDonald's napkin in ketchup.

Sounds like the city owes a few hundred million in refunds.

Do business with big government, you get whatever they want to give you. The smart move is not to play their little corrupt games.

Imagine, people freely agreeing among themselves to pay someone for a ride. What has the world come to?!!!

It was fine until Bloomberg took over. He's an investor in Uber and Lyft. His boys in the TLC are still pulling strings.

A significant number of Medallions are individually owned, the city is telling those people, mostly immigrants, to drop dead after paying it off for 20-30 years.

They use it as a means of retirement, or did. I used to do the job I know some things about it.

Because competing and doing a better job for less money, harming no one, helping your fellow man, is stealing. Got it.
