I heard the Ugly App story on 1010wins (24 hour news station in NYC) this morning. I couldn't believe my ears - almost fell out of bed!
The bogus story says it has been downloaded over 5,000,000 times and made over $500,000 in revenues. For those of you who are not accounting majors; revenues = sales (not profit). Therefore if that part of the story is accurate that means the app is being sold for about 10 cents a download. Obviously contradicting the $4.99 a download other part of the story. I think London's Daily Mirror is the U.S. equivalent of The Globe.
they did a segment on cnn headline news about this morning, interviewed the guy that ronnie yelled at i think
i'd love to know how much howard's salespeople got for the product placement disguised as a fake "guest appearance".
for $10k howard will do a live read
for $50k howard will "interview" you about your shit product
if you think i'm kidding, i'm not. thats how it works now, been that way ever since they got to sirius.
agreed. many news 'articles' nowadays are ads.
and as u said, this guy was on a ton of shows, not just howard. they throw howards name in any story they can to get views. sad part is it works
Yes, everyone here has had the curtain pulled back on that. Among many other factors (like, you know, the show SUCKING), knowing that made it very hard to listen (until I recently quit).
Wait, are you saying all those Tahiti Village calls were paid spots? GTFO, they seemed so natural, not forced at all!
They are even doing a story on KABC7 Los Angeles on the Ugly Meter App! No mention of Howard of course
there is a link on drudge report to a story abouth this thing..holy shit why is this thing picking up so much steam all of a sudden?
it sold over 5 million downloads before howard had them on the show. howard's contribution was gravy.
In Howard's mind it was all his doing. I couldn't be bothered to even look it up let alone download it and pay for it, they beat the shit into the ground.
The most I've ever paid for an app is $1.99 and even that's too much. $5? go fuck yourself.
...theres a campaign on now by parents asking for the app to be removed because they said 'its mean'. oh and howard didnt make this app popular, what a joke.
haha. tahiti village. so ridiculous.
