Tony Dungy said today, "wouldn't have taken Michael Sam..." :cheer2:

Tony Dungy 'wouldn't have taken' Michael Sam ... 'things will happen'

Tony Dungy 'wouldn't have taken' Michael Sam. (USATSI)
Former Missouri linebacker, SEC Defensive Player of the Year and openly-gay human being Michael Sam was eventually drafted by the Rams, though it wasn't until the seventh round when St. Louis made history.

Had Super Bowl-winning coach, NBC analyst and noted conservative Tony Dungy been running the Rams, he "wouldn't have taken" Sam. Why? "Things will happen" apparently.

"I wouldn't have taken him,'' Dungy told the Tampa Bay Times. “Not because I don't believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn't want to deal with all of it.

"It's not going to be totally smooth ... things will happen."

Dungy is allowed to have whatever stance he wants on sexuality. Religion, freedoms, belief systems, yada yada.

Didn't his kid kill himself because he was supposedly gay or was that just speculation?

Tony Dungy should apologize for Michael Vick not Michael Sams.
I wouldn't want to deal with it too if I was coach of a team, if my job depended on winning a championship.
If it just depended on getting press and more LGBT fans then it's a different story.
Nothing about this kid being gay, its more about him wanting to be a Kardashian.

The guy has high standards and wouldn't have taken a lot of top players. So what. His job is to give unique opinions.

He is absolutely right. The NFL may be the most cut throat pro sport. The second you don't produce (coaches included) Boom! you are gone, no questions asked there is the door. NFL teams have 53 men on the roster all trying to earn a living by winning. So taking a guy that comes with a media circus and isn't even NFL material is not fair to the other 52 trying to make it and basically career suicide. I would be disappointed if he apologizes.

Not a big O & A fan but so far Cumia is the only person I have ever seen who has refused to apologize for speaking honestly. I had hopes for Gary Oldman but he pussied out too.

He's an outspoken Christian, so that will fit the standard "anti-gay, religious bigot" story and be easy to run with.

I don't see the comment as anything more than expressing a simple fact that an NFL head coach has enough to deal with already without a media circus over something that is not football related.

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- Michael Sam made history Saturday afternoon, as the St. Louis Rams made him the 249th overall choice in the 2014 NFL draft.

The 249th pick? That means all the NFL teams agreed with Dungy 248 times.

Good thing Daniel Snyder didn't make this comment or there'd be more outrage on social media.

Michael Sam claimed he was all about being treated the same as other players and then word got out about his reality show deal with Oprah.
