i went to my parents house and they were watching this and they thought "it was okay" . i told them it was a remake of john candys and it was all of a sudden it was horrible. old white people arn't going to accept it being a remake with black people. call it something else it would still be on.

We just watched the first episode. It was terrible, and I think black people are hilarious.

    Oh well.

I thought the same thing about "The Carmichael Show", which is pretty much a clumsy rewrite of "Everybody Loves Raymond" or, to a lesser extent, "All in the Family". I watched a couple episodes On Demand, and mostly liked it.

Uncle Buck was a great movie. And like all great movies it should remain as such. A great movie. Forget about any crappy TV spinoffs. They always fail.

The following is the actual conversation that led to Uncle Buck being remade.

SENIOR VP DEVELOPMENT: We need a new comedy. The ones we have are for shit.

ASSISTANT VP: Modern Family is doing well.

SENIOR VP DEVELOPMENT: It's in decline and people are over the gay thing. TV is FOF right now.

DEVELOPMENT EXEC: "FOF sir? I'm not familiar with--

TRAINEE ASSISTANT: Full of Fags. He can't say, text or email that word because of what happened at Sony.

SENIOR VP DEVELOPMENT: So anyone got any ideas?

ASSISTANT VP: We can remake something. We have a lot of IP that is about to expire.

DEVELOPMENT EXEC: I saw that report. We own Uncle Buck and if we don't do something with it, it will go back to the producers.

TRAINEE ASSISTANT: Uncle Buck? Is that like a rich uncle or something?

SENIOR VP DEVELOPMENT: It's a John Hughes movie from the 80's.

TRAINEE ASSISTANT: Wow. I wasn't even born then.

ASSISTANT VP: If we remake Uncle Buck, there will be comparisons to John Candy, so we'll have to get a fat guy like Jack Black or Bobby Moynihan.

DEVELOPMENT EXEC: Or, we could do it Black.

    TRAINEE ASSISTANT: That's funny already.

SENIOR VP DEVELOPMENT: Yes, if we cast African Americans, we'll look like good guys and we'll keep the IP in house. Let's do it. Go out and find me a Black Buck.

Do we need Shooter the TV series? It looks like it is just going to be the same as the movie. It might have been good if maybe they portrayed Bob Lee Swagger early in life when he was a sniper in the marines.
